We construct a minimal rK-degree, continuum many, in fact. We also show that every minimal sequence, that is, a sequence with minimal rK-degree, must have very low descriptional complexity, that every minimal sequence is rK-reducible to a random sequence, and that there is a random sequence with no minimal sequence rK-reducible to it.

105 inTroducTion Civilian Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) has a long history in the United States. Enormous progress has been made during the past ten years in developing professional and operational standards within the field. However, to date, there still exists no standard of care within TEMS specifically, and more broadly for high threat pre-hospital trauma care. Current civilian ...

Descriptive symmetry and evaluative aesthetic judgment processes were compared using identical stimuli in both judgment tasks. Electrophysiological activity was recorded while participants judged novel formal graphic patterns in a trial-by-trial cuing setting using binary responses (symmetric, not symmetric; beautiful, not beautiful). Judgment analyses of a Phase 1 test and main experiment perf...

In this paper we develop a computational framework for the measurement of different factors or abilities which are usually found in intelligent behaviours. For this, we first develop a scale for measuring the complexity of an instance of a problem, depending on the descriptional complexity (Levin LT variant) of the ‘explanation’ of the answer to the problem. We centre on the establishment of ei...

Cerebral language lateralization can be assessed in several ways. In healthy subjects, functional MRI (fMRI) during performance of a language task has evolved to be the most frequently applied method. Functional transcranial Doppler (fTCD) may provide a valid alternative, but has been used rarely. Both techniques have their own strengths and weaknesses and as a result may be applied in differen...

This study explores buyers’ search and purchase behavior in an information-overloaded retail Electronic Marketplace (EMP). Two instrumental variables, i.e. number of visitors and number of sales for an item, are used to represent buyers’ search and purchase behavior. Price and reputation, two of the most frequently researched independent variables in EMP studies, are considered. The relationshi...

This paper discusses the descriptional complexity of generalized forbidding grammars in context of degrees, numbers of nonterminals and conditional productions, and a new descriptional complexity measure—an index—of generalized forbidding grammars.
