To date six antifungal antibiotics of the strobilurin-type are known (Scheme 1): Strobilurin A (1)1>2) which is identical with mucidin3), strobilurin B (2)ia\ strobilurin C (3)4), methoxymucidin (4)5), hydroxystrobilurin D6) and strobilurin E7). They contain an unsaturated side chain with a terminal (£)-/?-methoxyaerylate moiety and differ usually in their aromatic substitution. In the precedin...

Brassilexin and sinalexin are among the most potent antifungal phytoalexins produced by crucifer plants. Nonetheless, the crucifer pathogen Leptosphaeria maculans(Desm.) Ces. et de Not. (asexual stage Phoma lingam(Tode ex Fr.) Desm.) is able to detoxify these phytoalexins. To understand and control these reactions, the elusive brassilexin and sinalexin detoxification pathways in L. maculans wer...

Marine fungi producing antifungal compounds were screened against Pyricularia oryzae (P. oryzae), and a metabolite of marine fungus M-3 isolated from laver (Porphyra yezoensis) showed potent activity. Novel diketopiperazine (1) was isolated from the culture extracts, and its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The MIC of 1 against P. oryzae was 0.36 microM.

Ten metabolites produced by 4 mutants derived from Actinomadura verrucosospora subsp. neohibisca E-40, a high pradimicins producer, were isolated and their structures were determined. Strain JN-219 produced 3 novel analogs of the pradimicin A aglycone, i.e. 11-O-demethyl-7-methoxypradinone II and 11-O-demethylpradinones I and II together with a known aglycone analog, pradinone I, while the meta...

Kitasatospora cheerisanensis KCTC 2395, which produces antifungal metabolites with bafilomycin derivatives, including bafilomycin C1-amide, was isolated from a soil sample at Mt. Jiri, South Korea. Here, we report its draft genome sequence, which contains 8.04 Mb with 73.6% G+C content and 7,810 protein-coding genes.
