Doxorubicin-loaded micelles were prepared from a copolymer comprising cholic acid (CA) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) for the delivery of antitumor drugs. The CA-PEI copolymer was synthesized via pairing mediated by N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and N-hydroxysuccinimide using dichloromethane as a solvent. Fourier transform infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance analyses were performed to verify t...

N-(2-Hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide (HPMA) copolymer-bound doxorubicin has showed greater potency than free doxorubicin in the treatment of ovarian cancer in vivo and in vitro. The promising activity of the conjugate demonstrated in clinical trials has generated considerable interest in understanding the mechanism of action of this macromolecular therapeutic. In this study, the involvement of the...

10 11 Both visible and infrared (IR) spectroscopic ellipsometry have been employed to study the 12 structure of thin layers of bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM) adsorbed on poly(acrylic acid13 block-methyl methacrylate) (PAA-b-PMMA) copolymer and poly(methyl methacrylate) 14 surfaces at three pH values (3, 7 and 10). The adsorbed mucin layer on the copolymer surface 15 had the greatest thickness ...

Previous preclinical studies with ectopic tumor models have demonstrated remarkable improvements in the therapeutic profile of paclitaxel, formulated as a copolymer with poly-L-glutamic acid, compared with paclitaxel in the clinical formulation, Taxol. In this study, we evaluated these formulations in two human ovarian carcinoma xenograft models, NMP-1 and HEY, in nude mice. i.p. implantation i...

Electrospun aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)-based copolymer films exhibit an approximately 9-fold increase in response to explosive vapors compared to dense films although porous copolymer films have a thickness as high as 560 ± 60 nm.

Partially methylated polycytidylic acids were used as templates in an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase reaction with enzyme isolated from Micrococcus lysodeikticus. The presence of methylated cytidylic acid residues in the template led to the formation of a copolymer of uridylic and guanylic acids. The composition of this product copolymer was dependent on the extent of methylation of the polycytid...

Alignment of perpendicularly oriented lamellar block copolymer domains using an AFM tip is demonstrated. The AFM tip orients the domains through local shearing, resulting in domain alignment parallel to tip travel. AFM tips can also deposit block copolymer nanostructures on heated substrates with a variety of experimentally observed domain alignments.

Two different site-specific cleavage mechanisms for copolymer micelles under ultrasound and redox were confirmed. The finding that ultrasound induced mechanochemical cleavage of central ester bonds can open up a new way in the design of novel ultrasound responsive copolymer micelles for drug release.

We have reported previously that the cationic comb-type copolymer, PLL-g-Dex, accelerated DNA strand exchange reaction while stabilizing DNA duplexes. In this research, we studied the effects of PLL-g-Dex on a DNA-fueled nanomachine. The copolymer enabled rapid and secure operations of the DNA nanomachine which utilized the structural transition between intramolecular G-quadruplex and intermole...

A cationic star copolymer with a β-cyclodextrin core was developed for nonviral gene transfer to mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs). The copolymer comprises poly(2-dimethyl aminoethyl methacrylate) as the cationic component and poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) as the non-toxic stealth component. These materials have very low toxicity and show highly efficient transfection to mESC colonies.
