Absorption spectra (150-300 nm) of TiO2 and TiO2 modified with metal (Pt, Pd, and Au) nanoparticles were systematically measured using an attenuated total reflection-far ultraviolet spectrometer. The deposition of metal nanoparticles altered the spectral shape and intensity, indicating changes in the electronic states and photocatalytic activities of TiO2.

A simple and convenient method for the preparation of ultra-small palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) by a modified digestive ripening method is described. These nanoparticles catalyse the hydrogenation of the terminal alkyne groups to alkanes selectively, and show no effect on other labile protecting and internal alkyne or internal/external alkene groups present in the molecule.

Viral templates are highly versatile biotemplates used for the synthesis of nanostructured materials. Rotavirus VP6 self-assembles into nanotubular hollow structures with well-defined diameters and variable lengths, serving as a nucleic acid-free biotemplate to synthesize metal nanoparticles of controlled size, shape, and orientation. Molecular docking simulations show that exposed residues (H1...

The utilization of perfluoro-tagged palladium nanoparticles immobilized on fluorous silica gel through fluorous-fluorous interactions (Pd(np)-/FSG) or linked to silica gel by covalent bonds (Pd(np)-) in the alkynylation of terminal alkynes with aryl halides under aerobic, copper- and phosphine-free conditions in water, and their recovery and re-utilization, is described.

The fluorescent ligand (L) based on the N2S2 pyridinophane macrocycle and the 7-nitrobenzo[1,2,5]oxadiazole (NBD) fluorogenic fragment has been synthesized to coordinate Pd(II) ions. Loaded on dye-doped silica nanoparticles, L can be used as a ratiometric fluorescent chemosensor for Pd(II) in water with high selectivity toward other metal ions including the platinum group ones.

In the heterogeneous catalyst i-Pd(OAc)2(TPPTS)2, Pd(II) was reduced to Pd(0) by using different alcohol solvents, and catalyst’s activity studied in aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol. We effects impregnation time ethanol as a solvent use various alcoholic solvents on size palladium nanoparticles. found that reduction alcohols yielded nanoparticles were active As determined DLS, TEM, zeta pot...

We use density functional theory (DFT) to study CO-adsorption-induced Pd surface segregation in Au/Pd bimetallic surfaces, dynamics of Pd−Au swapping, effect of defects on the swapping rate, CO-induced Pd clustering, and the reaction mechanism of CO oxidation. The strong COphilic nature of Pd atoms supplies a driving force for the preferential surface segregation of Pd atoms and Pd cluster form...

PdAu dendrimer-encapsulated nanoparticles (DENs) were prepared via sequential reduction of the component metals. When Au is reduced onto 55-atom, preformed Pd DEN cores, analysis by UV-vis spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy leads to a model consistent with inversion of the two metals. That is, Au migrates into the core and Pd res...

Bimetallic nanostructures with non-random metal atoms distribution are very important for various applications. To synthesize such structures via benign wet chemistry approach remains challenging. This paper reports a synthesis of a Au/Pd alloy nanostructure through the galvanic replacement reaction between Pd ultrathin nanowires (2.4 +/- 0.2 nm in width, over 30 nm in length) and AuCl3 in tolu...

We present a detailed study of the catalytic activity of Au/Pd nanoalloys with Au : Pd molar ratio 75 : 25 synthesized using spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPB) as carrier system. The reduction of 4-nitrophenol (Nip) by sodium borohydride (BH4(-)) has been used as a model reaction. This reaction proceeds in two steps: 4-nitrophenol is first reduced to 4-hydroxylaminophenol which in a second...
