P-glycoprotein (P-gp) overexpression has become the most common cause of occurrence of multidrug resistance in clinical settings. We aimed to construct a micellar polymer carrier to sensitize drug-resistant tumors to doxorubicin (DOX). This A-B-C-type amphiphilic copolymer was prepared by the sequential linkage of β-cyclodextrin, hydrophobic poly(d,l-lactide), and hydrophilic poly(ethylene glyc...

Enantiomeric stereo random copolymers (SRCs), l-lactic acid-rich poly (lactic acid)s (L -PLAs) and d-lactic (D-PLAs) with major monomer unit fraction down to 85% were synthesized from mixtures of l- acids their stereocomplex (SC)- homo-crystallization the melt investigated. The obtained results compared those previously reported for enantiomeric SRCs, l-lactide-rich (l-lactide-co-d-lactide)s d-...

Dicationic, zwitterionic and "conventional" yttrium compounds act as catalysts for the primary or secondary amine-initiated immortal ROP of rac-lactide; amine-terminated, highly heterotactic poly(rac-lactides) with narrow polydispersities and well-controlled molecular weights are prepared in this manner.

We demonstrate an approach to the surface-mediated release of a synthetic N-acylated L-homoserine lactone (AHL) modulator of bacterial quorum sensing (QS). AHL released gradually from thin films of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG) is shown to activate QS in the model symbiont Vibrio fischeri at levels that exceed those promoted by direct solution-based administration.

A method for preparing colloidal particles formed by a magnetite nucleus and a biodegradable poly(DL-lactide) polymer coating is first described. The method is based on the so-called double-emulsion technique, employed to obtain polymeric spheres loaded with therapeutic drugs, to be used as drug delivery vectors. The aim of this work was to obtain, in a reproducible and rather simple way, collo...
