A new class of nitrogen-doped ordered mesoporous carbon/silica (N-OMC/SiO2) nanocomposites was successfully fabricated via a multi-constituent co-assembly strategy. The N-OMC/SiO2 nanocomposite presented a unique interpenetrating carbon/silica structure whose carbon/silica interface is highly uniform, and thus demonstrated high capacity, good cycling and excellent rate properties.

Mycoplasma species bovine group 7 bound plasminogen at the cell surface in a lysine-dependent manner. Cell-bound plasminogen was rapidly activated to plasmin by exogenous urokinase, and this activity was associated with plasminogen binding capacity. Binding assays using plasminogen modified with a trifunctional cross-linking agent revealed several binding proteins.

2,4,6-Tri(dimethylaminomethyl)-phenol was synthesized as a trifunctional moiety and incorporated onto poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) to obtain a novel quaternary ammonium functionalized PPO (PPO-TQA). Membranes of the polymer were fabricated and exhibited high conductivity, a low swelling ratio and water uptake.
