Introduction: The functionality and quality of any treatment planning system (TPS) strongly depends on the type of Algorithm which is used by it. Obviously, the role of dose distribution algorithms in calculation of prescribed dose inside the tumor in modern radiotherapy techniques has more important than past to achieve the best clinical outcomes, especially in tumors which ar...

Somatotopic distribution of motor cortex and sensory fibers is theoretically fully understood. We present a case of stroke, mimicking peripheral palsy, with finger paralysis attributed to cortical lesion. The patient’s brain MRI may be useful to further understand the somatotopic representation of fingers in precentral and postcentral gyrus.

Background: Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies indicate that irradiation in the dose range of 15 to 30 Gy can reduce rate of restenosis in patients who have undergone an angioplasty. The use of filled balloon with radioactive solution was proposed as one of the possible intravascular irradiation techniques. Materials and Methods: The Monte Carlo N-particle Transport Code (MCNP4b) was used...

The cytogenetic effect of low-dose gamma irradiation on the heredity structures of rabbits was studied. Rabbit peripheral blood lymphocytes were irradiated in vitro within the dose range 0.25-1.0 Gy on Rokus equipment with Со radiation source at a dose rate of 2.22 cGy/s. The analysis of cytogenetic data showed that the frequency of induced chromosomal aberrations in rabbit peripheral blood lym...

Abstract Background Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent complication in cancer patients and often detected as asymptomatic peripheral deep vein thrombosis (DVT). However, guidelines for DVT have not been established either general cardiology or onco-cardiology. Furthermore, patients, it generally considered difficult to administer standard doses of anticoagulants due the high risk bleedi...

Introduction: Metal prostheses in patients affect the radiotherapy dose distribution. Metal prostheses with high density and atomic number cause major changes in scattering and attenuation of radiation. The present study aims to assess the impact of metal knee prosthesis with various dimensions and materials on radiotherapy dose distribution. Material and Methods: In this research, the Varian L...
