A convenient and efficient three-component reaction to a one-pot synthesis of thiophene derivatives from activated acetylenic compounds and ethyl 2chloroacetoacetate in the presence of tetramethyl thiourea in water lead to the formation of thiophenes in good yields.

The one-pot reaction of aromatic aldehydes, ethylenediamine and Oxone (2 KHSO5 x KHSO4 x K2SO4) in pure water was found to unexpectedly afford aldoximes in excellent yields.

CuI nanoparticles as an expedient and recyclable catalyst for the synthesis of N-cyclohexyl-3-aryl-quinoxaline-2-amines in ethanol via a multi-component reaction are established.
