A new topology is proposed to regulate voltage sags/swells in distribution network this paper. Voltage sags and swells are a serious power quality problem faced by the industry. The major traditional restorer, based on energy storage device, not adequate for compensating deep long-duration sags/swells. To solve problem, novel bipolar direct AC/AC type restorer (AC/AC-VR) that both with regulati...
Sorghum shoot fly, Atherigona soccata, causes substantial economic losses in sorghum globally. Cultural practices and host plant resistance are effective measures for mitigating the caused by fly. Therefore, we evaluated 32 genotypes consisting of a set 10 restorer lines, CMS (cytoplasmic male-sterile) lines their respective maintainers exhibiting resistance/susceptibility to fly along with resi...
Cytoplasmic male-sterile (CMS) lines in maize (Zea mays) have been classified by their response to specific restorer genes into three categories: cms-C, cms-S, and cms-T. A mitochondrial genome representing each of the CMS cytotypes has been sequenced, and male sterility in the cms-S and cms-T cytotypes is linked to chimeric mitochondrial genes. To identify markers for plastid genotyping, we se...
For the optimal size and placement of the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) in a distribution network, in this paper the Simulated Annealing (SA) method is proposed. The multi-objective problem is converted to a single function using the goal attainment method. The obtained results show the voltage sag improvement on sensitive load nodes and other nodes in distribution system with minimum cost.
The petunia fused gene ( pcf ), which is associated with cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), is composed of sequences derived from atp9, coxll, and an unidentified reading frame termed urfS. To determine whether the pcf gene is expressed at the protein level, we produced antibodies to synthetic peptides specified by the coxll and urfs portions of the pcf gene. Anti-COXII peptide antibodies recogn...
Hybrid rice parental lines with better combining abilities provide an efficient tool to increase production. In the current study, twenty hybrid combinations were generated from five aromatic cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) and four restorer (three of them aromatic) using a line × tester mating design. The hybrids their evaluated under two water regimes: normal irrigation water-stress. Ten yield...
The utilization of heterosis in rice, maize and rapeseed has revolutionized crop production. Although elite hybrid cultivars are mainly derived from the F1 crosses between two groups of parents, named NCII mating design, little has been known about the methodology of how interacted effects influence quantitative trait performance in the population. To bridge genetic analysis with hybrid breedin...
Selection of parents based on their combining ability is an effective approach in hybrid breeding. In this study, eight maintainer lines and nine restorer lines were used to obtain 72 crosses for analyzing the general combining ability (GCA) and special combining ability (SCA) for seven agronomic and yield characters including plant height (PH), spike length excluding awns (SL), inter-node leng...
Rice is sensitive to high-temperature stress during almost all stages of growth and development. High-temperature has become one the main factors restricting high yield superior quality rice. In this study, recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from an indica rice cross between two restorer were planted in years. One sowing date was applied 2019, four dates set 2020 according period local tem...
Root system development is an important target for improving yield in rice. Active roots that can take up nutrients more efficiently are essential for improving grain yield. In this study, we performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) analyses using 215 recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between Xieqingzao B (XB), a maintainer line with short roots and R9308, a restorer line with long ...
