In this paper an efficient procedure for determination of small-signal and noise behavior of microwave transistors for various bias conditions is proposed. An empirical transistor noise model based on an equivalent circuit (improvement of Pospieszalski’s noise model) is considered. Since it is necessary to extract values of the model equivalent circuit for each bias point (which requires the me...

A CAD environment leading from technology to performance evaluation by integrating process, device, and circuit simulation would be a valuable tool for the development of monolithic microwave circuits. The paper focuses on the linkage between a physical device simulator for smalland large-signal characterization, and CAD tools for both linear and nonlinear circuit analysis and design. Efficient...

A low-cost adaptive predistortion circuit to reduce 3 order intermodulation of semiconductor lasers has been designed. Using a microcontroller to adjust the control voltages the intermodulation has been reduced by 20 dB over the frequency range of 1750 to 1870 MHz. Transient simulation of narrowband bandpass filters used in microwave circuits is challenging because of matrix ill-conditioning. Here, such filters are modelled as the equivalent discrete-time form developed using a bilinear z-transform. The technique has been implemented in a general purpose transient circuit simulator and validated using a 1.7 GHz 5-section coaxial filter with a 0.9% bandwidth.

The microwave circuit simulator MMICAD can be used to analyze and optimize the small-signal conversion and noise performance of a mixer-preamplifier. The mixer is represented as a noisy five-frequency five-port network using imported conversion and noise correlation matrices, with MMICAD’s NCSCOR5 element which contains five correlated noise sources.

Abstract—This paper presents a low-loss coaxial cavity microwave bandpass filter with postmanufacturing tuning capabilities. A systematic filter development using a low-pass prototype as the starting point to produce a fourth-degree Chebyshev bandpass response is demonstrated. The coaxial cavity filter based on the transverse electromagnetic mode of the propagation has a center frequency of 2.5...

The deterministic generation of non-classical states of light, including squeezed states, Fock states and Bell states, plays an important role in quantum information processing and exploration of the physics of quantum entanglement. Preparation of these non-classical states in resonators is non-trivial due to their inherent harmonicity. Here we use stimulated Raman adiabatic passage to generate...

Parity-time (PT) symmetric structures present the unidirectional invisibility at the spontaneous PT-symmetry breaking point. In this paper, we propose a PT-symmetric circuit consisting of a resistor and a microwave tunnel diode (TD) which represent the attenuation and amplification, respectively. Based on the scattering matrix method, the circuit can exhibit an ideal unidirectional performance ...
