Given an inclusion D ⊆ C of unital C∗-algebras (with common unit), a unital completely positive linear map Φ of C into the injective envelope I(D) of D which extends the inclusion of D into I(D) is a pseudo-expectation. Pseudo-expectations are generalizations of conditional expectations, but with the advantage that they always exist. The set PsExp(C,D) of all pseudoexpectations is a convex set,...
This paper presents the foundations that lead to the EKV MOS transistor compact model. It describes all the basic concepts required to derive the large-signal and smallsignal charge-based model that is valid in all modes of inversion, from weak to strong inversion through moderate inversion. The general small-signal model valid in quasistatic and non-quasi-static operation is also presented and...
Numerical dimension and a Kawamata-Viehweg-Nadel type vanishing theorem on compact Kähler manifolds
Let X be a compact Kähler manifold and let L be a pseudoeffective line bundle on X with singular metric φ. We first define a notion of numerical dimension of the pseudo-effective pair (L,φ) and then discuss the properties of it. We prove also a very general KawamataViehweg-Nadel type vanishing theorem on an arbitrary compact Kähler manifold.
Five parameters are needed to describe VTI anisotropy in 2-D elastic media. With conventional streamer data, an optimal parameterization for full-waveform inversion (FWI) consists in using the horizontal velocity vh, the anellipicity parameter η, and the parameter that relates the horizontal-to-vertical velocity, ε. This parameterization, derived with a pseudo-acoustic formulation of the wave e...
A class of higher-order compact upwind biased finite difference (FD) schemes based on the Taylor Series Expansion is developed in this work. The numerical accuracy of this family of compact upwind biased FD schemes is demonstrated by means of Fourier analysis wherein it is shown that these FD schemes have very low dispersion errors over a relatively large bandwidth of wave numbers as compared t...
We call a comb a map f : I → [0,∞), where I is a compact interval, such that {f ≥ ε} is finite for any ε. A comb induces a (pseudo)-distance d̄f on {f = 0} defined by d̄f (s, t) = max(s∧t,s∨t) f . We describe the completion Ī of {f = 0} for this metric, which is a compact ultrametric space called comb metric space. Conversely, we prove that any compact, ultrametric space (U, d) without isolated p...
