the present paper was aimed to study the effects of variable thermal conductivity and heat generation on the flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field, thermal radiation, porous medium, mass transfer, and variable free stream near a stagnation point on a non-conducting stretching sheet. equations of continuity, momentum...

Equipment, sound sources, operators, microphone placement, calculation techniques, and thermal–humidity measurement conditions all have an impact on the of impulse responses when several channels are present. However, variable, which is a significant component these factors impacting assessment acoustic characteristics, commonly overlooked in research. The effects altering temperature, relative...

We describe a method for the measurement of thermal diffusivity of anisotropic materials. The technique uses a single pulse of light from a flashlamp on the front surface of a slap of material, part of which is shadowed by a rectangular mask. By fitting the measured rear surface temperature distributions as a function of time and space to a theoretical model, we obtain the thermal diffusivities...

Heart rate is an important indicator for the mental and physical state, but it is usually measured through physical contact. In this paper, a novel non-contact method of heart rate measurement has been proposed from the infrared sequence images. First, a square region of interest (ROI) was manually selected to cover the temple on the first frame. Then a head movement detection algorithm based o...

Thanks to the collaboration between two laboratories, we present different techniques to measure thermal diffusivity. A brief description of any technique both in the experimental layout and in the processing algorithms is given. Results obtained on samples cut from the same block of stainless steel AISI 304, are reported. Uncertainty evaluation of any measurement is reported as well.

Solid particles dispersed in a liquid with sizes no larger than 100nm, known as nanofluids, are used to enhance Thermophysical properties compared to the base fluid. Preparations of alumina (Al2O3), titania (TiO2) and silica (SiO2) in water have been experimentally conducted in volume concentrations ranging between 1 and 2.5%. Thermal conductivity is measured by the hot wire method and viscosit...

We present a thermal conductivity measurement method for laser crystals based on thermal mapping of the crystal face by an infrared camera. Those measurements are performed under end-pumping of the laser crystal and during laser operation. The calculation of the fraction of pump power converted into heat is therefore simplified, and it is possible to link easily the temperature in the crystal t...

A novel method of measuring the relative headmedium spacing based on a measurement in the servo sectors is developed and simulated using a read back signal model. The spacing measurement is tested experimentally on a spin stand where the flying height is varied using the resistance heater element in a thermal flying height control slider. In addition, voltage step response measurements were obt...

Our main aim is to propose a vision-based measurement as an alternative to physiological measurement for recognizing mental stress. The development of this emotion recognition system involved three stages: experimental setup for vision and physiological sensing, facial feature extraction in visual-thermal domain, mental stress stimulus experiment and data analysis and classification based on Su...

Temperature can be measured via emitted thermal radiation of the measured object using Max Planck’s law of thermal radiation, which describes the emission of thermal radiation as a function of temperature of an ideal black body. However, thermal radiation measurement requires accurately calibrated detectors. The calibration of such detectors has been significantly improved in the last years, yi...
