A continuous microwave equipment (CME) has been successfully developed in order to achieve an extremely rapid and mass production for ZSM-5 and NaY zeolite. A precursor mixture for synthesis of ZSM-5 was prepared by mixing aluminosilicate gel with a nanoseed solution obtained under microwave irradiation, and pumped continuously into the CME. Duration time in the CME was 5 min to accomplish the ...

Sulfonic acid functionalized SBA-15 as a nanoporous acid catalyst was used in the synthesis of 2-Aryl benzoxazoles 4 by the condensation of 2-aminophenol 1 and benzoyl chlorides 2 under microwave irradiation in solvent free reaction conditions. The advantages of this methodology are good product yields (60-98%), being environmentally benign, short reaction times and easy work up.

An efficient soluble polymer-supported method has been developed for the parallel synthesis of substituted benzimidazole linked benzoxazoles using focused microwave irradiation. The key step involves the amidation of 4-hydroxy-3-nitrobenzoic acid with polymer-immobilized o-phenylenediamine. Application of mild acidic conditions promoted the ring closure to furnish the benzimidazole ring. After ...

Graphene is extensively investigated and promoted as a viable replacement for graphite, the state-of-the-art material for lithium-ion battery (LIB) anodes, although no clear evidence is available about improvements in terms of cycling stability, delithiation voltage and volumetric capacity. Here we report the microwave-assisted synthesis of a novel graphene-based material in ionic liquid (i.e.,...

Due to their rapid, selective, and volumetric heating, microwaves have been widely used in the past to enhance solid-state reactions as well as the synthesis of ceramic pigments. The aim of this work is to present a case study involving the preparation of blue CoAl2O4 pigment using different microwave applicators and generator frequencies, showing the advantages which can derive from a properly...

This paper gives a review on the plasma synthesis of nanoparticulate powders. The concept of plasma synthesis is used quite comprehensively, it covers all processes where charged particles are observed. Therefore, the topic of this paper ranges from high-temperature processes and microwave processes to the laser and flame synthesis of nanopowders. For each of the processes discussed in this pap...

The SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) mission will provide from 2007 onwards global maps of soil moisture over land and sea surface salinity over ocean. The radiometry group of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona has been involved either in the definition of the SMOS single payload, MIRAS (Microwave Imaging Radiometer by Aperture Synthesis), or in the organization of ...
