A server for generating, storing and filling web forms has been implemented. The forms are defined by specifying the expected data model using XML Schema, and the HTML forms are generated automatically. The form data is stored in the native XML database as XML that conforms to the originating form schema.

Current concepts postulate a decisive role of the cerebellar nodulus in the processing of otolith input. We hypothesized that nodular lesions abolish otolith-perceptual integration, predicting alignment of perceived direction of earth vertical with the z-axis of the head and not with gravity. In an 80-year-old patient with acute heminodular infarction, the subjective visual vertical deviated co...

Contrary to the claims of Stanovich and Purcell, Saccuzzo, Kerr, Marcus, and Brown did not claim to have demonstrated specific deficits in iconic storage in mental retardation but specifically noted that the precise nature of the input limitation could not be specified. Stanovich and Purcell's basic criticism is that Saccuzzo, Kerr, Marcus, and Brown's design does not rule out nonspecific facto...

While several previous psychophysical and neurophysiological studies have demonstrated chromatic (red/green) input to motion processing, the nature of this input is still a matter of debate. In particular, recent controversy has developed regarding whether chromatic motion processing relies on lower-level processes [J. Neurosci. 14 (1994) 4854; 19 (1999) 6571] versus higher-level, attention- or...

Industrial symbiosis (IS) is a subdiscipline of Industrial Ecology that aims to bring together companies from different sectors to share resources, namely energy, materials, and water. The main goal of IS is to improve resource (materials, waste, energy) efficiency and lead to mutual environmental, financial and social benefits to participants. In this paper we present a semantic approach for I...

We compared event-related responses (ERPs) to non-attended frequent and intermittent auditory input in school-aged children and in young adults. In adults, both inputs elicited prominent auditory N100 responses at vertex. In children, intermittent stimulation evoked vertex responses with similar latency and refractoriness, whereas frequently delivered identical tones evoked responses on average...

Burst firing is commonly observed in many sensory systems and is proposed to transmit information reliably. Although a number of biophysical burst mechanisms have been identified, the relationship between burst dynamics and information transfer is uncertain. Electrosensory pyramidal cells have a well defined backpropagation-dependent burst mechanism. We used in vivo, in vitro, and modeling appr...

We report on a study of first-exposure learners with different first languages (L1s: English, Japanese) to examine their ability to process input for form and meaning. We used a rich set of tasks to tap respectively into processing, comprehension, imitation, and working memory. We show that there are advantages to having a first language (L1) that brings familiarity with the target language. We...

In this paper we propose a new technique focused on the selection of the important input variable for modelling complex systems of function approximation problems, in order to avoid the exponential increase in the complexity of the system that is usual when dealing with many input variables. The proposed parallel processing approach is composed of complete radial basis function neural networks ...

In this paper the heterogeneous firms and trade literature is extended by integrating quality of inputs and outputs in a food and agricultural setting. Recently, Sexton (2013) has suggested that intermediate agricultural input quality is critical in food processing firms’ output quality and pricing decisions. The results presented in this paper indicate that intermediate agricultural input qual...
