A patient with a corrected coarctation of the aorta subsequently developed infective endocarditis on a congenital bicuspid aortic valve. Resolution of the radiographic bone changes of hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy was demonstrated following treatment of the infection.

The most common aortic valve congenital abnormality is observed in bicuspid aortic valve. Only a few cases of aortic valve quadricuspidy have been reported in the literature. We report a new case of endocarditis complicating a congenital quadricuspid aortic valve.

Bicuspid aortic valve is the most common congenital cardiovascular anomaly, occurring in 1–2% of the population. It has a male predominance and often occurs in multiple members of the same family, suggesting that it may have an autosomal dominant inheritance, perhaps with variable penetrance. 2 Much of the data relating to its complications derive from necropsy studies since reliable diagnosis ...

Background. The pathogenesis of ascending aortic di-latation in the presence of a bicuspid valve is discussed controversially. Recent experimental evidence suggests that the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) may have an influence on aortic valve anatomy and aneurysmal dilatation of the aorta. We investigated the relationship among eNOS expression, valve anatomy, and aortic ...

An 18 yr old female referred to us as hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy with bicuspid aortic valve. On Initial history and examination patient also had primary amenorrhoea, differential cyanosis in lower limbs, differential clubbing, polydactyly, syndactyly, high arched foot, pectus carinatum and scoliosis. Oxygen saturation was 94% at room air and complete blood count was suggestive of p...

Aortic regurgitation is occasionally caused by fibrous strands and more rarely by downward displacement of the aortic annulus. The present report describes an 18-year-old man with aortic regurgitation resulting from an anterior-posterior type of bicuspid aortic valve with fibrous strands and downward displacement of the anterior aortic annulus. A pair of fibrous strands at the anterior cusp of ...

Thrombosis in a native aortic valve is a rare complication which may lead to systemic embolization. A few cases of aortic thrombosis in previously abnormal valves have been described. In this report, we describe a 42-year-old male who suffered two acute ischaemic attacks, one in the upper right limb and another in the cerebral territory supplied by the left sylvian artery, from a thrombus that ...

Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most common congenital anomaly and affects approximately 1%–2% of population. Individuals with BAVs have higher risks valvular dysfunction, endocarditis, ascending aneurysm dissection than individuals tricuspid valves. We report a fatal outcome in women patient bicuspid complited to sténosis. The was qualified for elective surgery replacement affected aorta co...

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an established choice for the treatment of severe stenosis (AS) in patients who are deemed inoperable or at high surgical risk. There limited data safety and effi cacy method with bicuspid (BAV), most common congenital defect. Patients BAV were excluded from randomized clinical trials (RCTs), comparing TAVI to surgery due heterogeneous anatomy t...
