iran, with a yearly production of 147,000 tons of plums, is one of the most important plum producers in theworld. this study was conducted to compare the phenological and pomological characteristics of 18 plum cultivars. an experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with three replications at the khorasan razavi agricultural and natural resource and agricultural research ...
Before 1909, atoms were thought to consist of a diffuse positive charge surrounded by electrons (the “plum pudding” model). In order to predict the properties of the elements on the periodic table with this model, the distribution of electrons on a sphere had to be studied. This problem was named after Thomson, the originator of the plum pudding model and the first to study it. In 1909, Rutherf...
Plum bark necrosis stem pitting-associated virus (PBNSPaV) causes the plum bark necrosis stem pitting-associated disease. We obtained the complete genome of a PBNSPaV isolate (PBNSPaV-TA) using small RNA deep sequencing followed by overlapping RT-PCR. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a completed genome of PBNSPaV identified from cherry trees.
ABSTRACT The dynamics of virus interference between two isolates of Plum pox virus (PPV) belonging to the main PPV types, D and M, were analyzed in Japanese plum (Prunus salicina) by challenge inoculations. To assess the consequences of a PPV-M infection on plum already infected with PPV-D, and vice versa (predominance of one of the strains, recombination, synergism, symptoms aggravation, and s...
In this research the effect of salicylic acid (SA), acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), and methylsalicylate (MeSA) treatments, applied as a foliar spray during on-tree plum development, on fruit quality attributes, bioactive compounds, antioxidant activity, and the activity of the antioxidant enzymes at harvest and after long-term cold storage was evaluated in two plum cultivars ("Black Splendor", BS,...
Plum bark necrosis-stem pitting (PBNSP) disease was first observed in 1986 affecting plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) cv. Black Beaut trees in two orchards in Dinuba, CA (8). All of the Black Beaut plum trees had been whip-grafted with a single cultivar Wickson plum scion per tree to serve as a pollenizer, and all Wickson grafts failed. A year later, the same trees were grafted a second time with ...
