Analysis of jitter due to call-level fluctuations CWI's research has a theme-oriented structure and is grouped into four clusters. Listed below are the names of the clusters and in parentheses their acronyms. Analysis of jitter due to call-level fluctuations ABSTRACT In communication networks used by constant bit rate applications, call-level dynamics (i.e., entering and leaving calls) lead to ...

As data rates increase, crosstalk becomes an increasingly important issue. Crosstalk aggressors can attack both amplitude and timing characteristics of the victim signal. The effects of crosstalk on the jitter of a victim signal are not well understood because crosstalk does not fit neatly into the standard definitions of jitter components. As a result, most commercially available jitter analyz...

We present comprehensive simultaneous studies of jitter process in time, frequency, and statistical domains. Math models for jitter characteristics and mapping relationships between one domain and the other are presented, along with the simulation experimental results. The theory and methodologies introduced in this paper enable better understanding, accurate implementing and correlating those ...

Thetiming jitter in relaxation oscillators is analyzed. This jitter is described by a single normalized equation whose solution allows prediction of noise in practical oscillators. The theory is confirmed by measurements on practical oscillators and is used to develop a prototype low noise oscillator with a measured jitter of 1.5 ppm rms.

Jitter and phase noise properties of phase-locked loops (PLL) are analyzed, identifying various forms of jitter and phase noise in PLLs. The effects of different building blocks on the jitter and phase noise performance of PLLs are demonstrated through a parallel analytical and graphical treatment of noise evolution in the phaselocked loop.

— This paper investigates the concept of using body bias as a design tool to optimize the timing jitter and power dissipation in single ended CMOS ring oscillators. A theoretical model for phase noise and timing jitter in ring oscillators is summarized and used as a basis for simulation of the impulse sensitivity function. Simulation results are then used to estimate timing jitter and phase noi...

The paper deals with an influence of network jitter on effective packet loss in dejitter buffer. We analyze behavior of jitter buffers with and without packet reordering capability and quantify the additional packet loss caused by packets dropped in buffer on top of the measured network packet loss. We propose substitution of packet loss parameter Ppl in ITU-T E-Model by effective packet loss P...

The influence of timing jitter on quadrature charge sampling for a direct conversion receiver has been evaluated. In contrast to voltage sampling, the charge sampling mixer integrates the signal current instead of tracking the signal voltage. The charge sampling mixer has been applied to RF direct sampling in wireless receivers. The influence of timing jitter on charge sampling has been analyse...

Interactive computing systems frequently use pointing as an input modality, while also supporting other forms of input. We focus on pointing and investigate the effects of variations, i.e. jitter, in the input device latency, as well as dropouts, on 2D pointing speed and accuracy. First, we characterize the latency, latency jitter, and dropouts in several common input technologies. Then we pres...
