Recent developments in cerebral angiography equipment and workstations have made it possible to produce clear angiograms useful images for neurosurgery. At our institution, we routinely perform aneurysm clipping after presurgical simulation using imaging data obtained three-dimensional angiography. This report describes the clinical significance of clipping.

A 55-year-old man presented with clinical signs of an aortic arch aneurysm. Angiography, MRI and CT demonstrated an aortic arch aneurysm and an aneurysm of the aberrant right subclavian artery. Coronary angiography revealed 95% stenosis in the right coronary artery. Right common carotid artery-right subclavian artery bypass, arch graft replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting were perfor...

Aim: To measure the bony carotid canal diameters in people without any cerebral vascular variations or aneurysms that would affect and to determine whether of width could be an indicator aneurysyms variations. Material Methods: Seven-hundred neck-brain CT angiographies were assessed retrospectively. Of patients, 283 (40.4%) women 417 (59.6%) men. Bilateral diameter was measured. Cerebral record...

The medical literature reports an association between cerebral neoplasms and aneurysm formation. Some related aneurysms are detected during preoperative screening, whereas others are detected during or after surgery. We report a case of a patient with a de novo cerebral feeding artery aneurysm that we managed during glioblastoma surgery. We present a brief review of the literature on the co-exi...

We report two cases in which volume subtraction three-dimensional CT angiography (VS-3DCTA) was used for cerebral aneurysm and vascular stenosis with intramural calcification. Case 1: VS-3DCTA with volume rendering clearly showed carotid cave aneurysm of the internal carotid artery. The location and size of the aneurysm was confirmed by digital subtraction angiography (DSA). In evaluation of th...

OBJECTIVES Outcome of surgical treatment of cerebral aneurysms may be severely compromised by local cerebral ischaemia or infarction resulting from the inadvertent occlusion of an adjacent vessel by the aneurysm clip, or by incomplete aneurysm closure. It is therefore mandatory to optimise clip placement in situ to reduce the complication rate. The present study was performed to investigate the...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The effects of aneurysm treatment modality (clipping or coiling) on the incidence of cerebral vasospasm and infarction after subarachnoid hemorrhage have not been clearly defined. We hypothesized that there may be a difference in angiographic and clinical vasospasm, cerebral infarction, and clinical outcome between patients undergoing clipping compared to coiling. METHO...

Spontaneous disappearance of an intracranial aneurysm after subarachnoid hemorrhage is an uncommon event and usually associated with severe cerebral vasospasm, giant aneurysms or the use of antifibrinolytics. We present a young woman who suffered a grade 5 subarachnoid hemorrhage with severe vasospasm caused by a small anterior communicating artery aneurysm. The patient underwent a slow recover...

Four cases of suggestive inflammatory aneurysms in patients with neurocysticercosis have been described. We report a case of a 49-year-old woman who presented with subarachnoid haemorrhage from a right middle cerebral artery bifurcation aneurysm and had a casual relationship with neurocysticercosis. At surgery, a viable cysticercus without signs of inflammation or thickened leptomeninges was fo...

INTRODUCTION A cerebral aneurysm arising at the fenestration of the middle cerebral artery is extremely rare, with one report describing subarachnoid hemorrhage due to this type of lesion. There have been no reports of this type of lesion occurring in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus. CASE PRESENTATION A 47-year-old Japanese woman with 23 years' history of systemic lupus erythemato...
