We demonstrate a soliton fiber laser based on an anomalously dispersive erbium-doped fiber butt-coupled to a saturable absorber mirror for passive mode locking. The laser generates 180 fs pulses at a repetition rate of 491 MHz and exhibits a timing jitter as low as 20 fs over the frequency range 1 kHz-10 MHz.

Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae were evaluated as agents of persistent cough in adolescents and adults (n = 491). Tests of 473 respiratory specimens by culture or PCR or both identified four episodes (0.8%) of M. pneumoniae-associated illness and no episodes of C. pneumoniae illness, suggesting that these bacteria do not frequently cause persistent cough.

This communication reports that three prostate cancer cells of differing metastatic potential were discriminated based on their Young's moduli (LNCaP - 287 +/- 52 N m(-2), PC-3 - 1401 +/- 162 N m(-2) and BPH - 2797 +/- 491 N m(-2)) which were determined using AFM and the Hertz model.
