The ability to transport a large quantity of drug molecules into cytosolic compartments of cancer cells has powerful implications in modern molecular therapeutics because the sites of action of the drugs are often cytosolic organelles. Furthermore, direct cytosolic delivery might offer a means to evade efflux transporters, such as multidrug-resistance proteins and P-glycoproteins. Nanoparticle ...

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an emerging treatment modality that involves the combined action of photosensitizers (PSs) and light for treatment of solid tumor and other diseases. Although this therapeutic method has been considered as an alternative to classical cancer treatments, clinical PDT requires further advances in selectivity and therapeutic efficacy to overcome numerous shortages rela...

RBC membrane-cloaked polymeric nanoparticles represent an emerging nanocarrier platform with extended circulation in vivo. A lipid-insertion method is employed to functionalize these nanoparticles without the need for direct chemical conjugation. Insertion of both folate and the nucleolin-targeting aptamer AS1411 shows receptor-specific targeting against model cancer cell lines.

BACKGROUND A novel dual ligand-modified liposome, folic acid-tethered Pep-1 peptide-conjugated liposomal nanocarrier (FP-Lipo), was designed to overcome the nonselectivity of conventional penetrating peptide-tagged nanoparticulates and to provide the advantage of selective targeting of the folic acid receptor, which is frequently overexpressed on epithelial cancer cells. METHODS FP-Lipo was p...

Objective(s): Nanocarriers are drug delivery vehicles, which have attracted the attention of researchers in recent years, particularly in cancer treatment. The encapsulation of anticancer drugs using protein nanocages is considered to be an optimal approach to reducing drug side-effects and increasing the bioavailability of anticancer drugs. Epirubicin (EPR) is an active chemotherapeutic medica...

Nowadays, Nano-sized drug delivery systems have been studied extensively for theirpotential in cancer therapy. Various drug nanocarriers are being developed including liposomes, micelles, and Virus like nanoparticles (VLNPs). VLNPs offer many advantages for developing smart drug delivery systems due to their precise and repeated structures and relatively large cargo capacities. Truncated ...

Objective: The purpose of this work was design and performance investigation of a nanocarrier based on magnetic nanofibers containing core-shell nanostructuresfor anticancerdrug delivery of daunorubicin (DAN) by measuring their drug release at different pH values. Methods: Fe3O4 nanoparticles and Fe3O4@SiO2core-shell nanostructures were synthesized through coprecipitation and Stöber methodresp...

In article number 2200044, Weiping Wang and co-workers developed a H2S-responsive nanocarrier based on the self-assembly of trigonal small molecules. Hydrophobic drugs, such as doxorubicin, can be encapsulated precisely released in H2S-enriched colorectal tumors for effective cancer therapy.
