[1] Seven short-lived atmospheric trace gases were measured in 25 ice core samples from Summit, Greenland. Samples were selected from contemporaneous sections of fluidand dry-drilled ice cores to examine what effects using n-butyl acetate as the drill fluid would have on the measurements. The gases include three light alkanes, C2H6, C3H6, and n-C4H10; two methyl halides, CH3Cl and CH3Br; and tw...

Volatile organic emissions were detected post-perihelion in the long-period Comet C/2006 M4 (SWAN) in October and November 2006. Our study combines target-of-opportunity infrared observations using the Cryogenic Echelle Spectrometer (CSHELL) at the NASA-IRTF 3-m telescope, and millimeter wavelength observations using the Arizona Radio Observatory (ARO) 12-m telescope. Five parent volatiles were...

Abstract. Agricultural emissions, including those from concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) for beef and dairy cattle, make up a large portion of the United States' total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, many CAFOs reside in areas where methane (CH4) oil natural (ONG) complicates quantification CAFO Traditional approaches to quantify emissions such regions often relied on inve...

We present the first temperature-dependent rate constants and branching ratios for the reactions of Fe(+) and FeO(+) with C2H2, C2H4, and C2H6 from 170 to 700 K. Fe(+) is observed to react only by association with the three hydrocarbons, with temperature dependencies of T(-2) to T(-3). FeO(+) reacts with C2H2 and C2H4 at the collision rate over the temperature range, and their respective produc...
