This letter presents an improved version of diffusion least mean ppower (LMP) algorithm for distributed estimation. Instead of sum of mean square errors, a weighted sum of mean square error is defined as the cost function for global and local cost functions of a network of sensors. The weight coefficients are updated by a simple steepest-descent recursion to minimize the error signal of the glo...
In this paper contend with the determination of offline, optimal proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller parameters of an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system using Adaptive Tabu Search (ATS) algorithm is presented. Parameter of this PID controller is obtained by minimizing the performance index such as integrated absolute error (IAE), the integral of squared error (ISE), and the ...
Adaptive filtering has traditionally been developed based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) principle and has found ever-increasing applications in communications. The paper develops adaptive filtering based on an alternative minimum bit error rate (MBER) criterion for communication applications. It is shown that the MBER filtering exploits the non-Gaussian distribution of filter output e...
NON-UNIFORM SUBBAND ADAPTIVE FILTERS Jacob D. Griesbach, Michael Lightner, and Delores M. Etter Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering University of Colorado Boulder, CO 80309 [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] ABSTRACT Minimum mean square error estimators have been developed for non-uniform subband adaptive filters (SAFs) in system modeling configuratio...
In this paper, we propose an efficient control scheme for active queue management (AQM) supporting TCP flows. The proposed controller consists of two parts: a rate controller and a queue size controller. The rate controller is a proportional-integral (PI) controller, which improves the response to dynamic traffic variation and keeps the packet arrival rate around the link capacity. The queue si...
We consider the convergence analysis of the sign algorithm for adaptive filtering when the input processes are uncorrelated and Gaussian. Asymptotic time-averaged convergence results for the mean deviation error, mean-square deviation error, and for the signal estimation error are established. These results are shown to hold for arbitrary step size μ > 0.
The present system of speech enhancement is developing by adaptive filtering approach in digital filters. The adaptive filter utilizes the least mean square algorithm for noise removal, but in practical application of LMS algorithm, a key parameter is the step size. As it is known, if the step size is large, the convergence rate of LMS algorithm will be rapid, but the steady-state mean square e...
limited water resources, especially in iran, require most effective method of water use to avoid losses. one of the important parameters in irrigation is water distribution uniformity coefficient (cu) in sprinkler irrigation. cu in every irrigation depends on pressure heads (p), riser height (rh), distance between sprinklers on lateral pipes (sl), and the distance between lateral pipes (sm). th...
A QR-decomposition based algorithm is presented for unbiased, equation error adaptive IIR filtering. The algorithm is based on casting the adaptive IIR filtering in a mixed Least Squares Total Least Squares (LS-TLS) framework. This formulation is shown to be equivalent to the minimization of the mean-square equation error subject to a unit norm constraint on the denominator parameter vector. An...
Invariable step size based least-mean-square error (ISS-LMS) was considered as a very simple adaptive filtering algorithm and hence it has been widely utilized in many applications, such as adaptive channel estimation. It is well known that the convergence speed of ISS-LMS is fixed by the initial step-size. In the channel estimation scenarios, it is very hard to make tradeoff between convergenc...
