background the physiological link between ghrelin and growth hormone (gh) has not yet been fully clarified. furthermore, the existence of a negative feedback mechanism between growth hormone–insulin-like growth factor (gh–igf)-i axis and ghrelin and the influence of amino acids on ghrelin secretion in children remain matters of debate. objectives to understand the regulation of ghrelin secretio...

Thirty-six children with growth hormone deficiency were treated for up to 48 months with methionyl human growth hormone (hGH) synthesised by DNA recombinant methods. The growth rate for these children increased from 3.2 +/- 1.1 cm/yr to 10.5 +/- 2.2 cm/yr (mean +/- SD). This was similar to the effect of pituitary hGH in ten GH deficient children, 3.8 +/- 1.0 to 10.1 +/- 1.1 cm/yr. Serum somatom...

cell lines derived from mammalian are dominant systems for the production of recombinant therapeutic proteins because of their capacity for correct protein folding, assembly and post-translational modification. in the search of an efficient method for the production of  a recombinant protein using animal cell culture, we investigated the effects of different treatment including fetal calf serum...

Floating-Harbor Syndrome (FHS) is a very rare condition of unknown etiology characterized by short stature, delayed bone age, characteristic facial features, delayed language skills and usually normal motor development. This syndrome has only once been associated with growth hormone deficiency and precocious puberty in the same patient. We describe a 5 4/12 year-old girl with the typical featur...
