This paper presents a low power impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) receiver based on a reconfigurable, high speed analog correlator called distributed pulse correlator (DPC). The DPC incorporates built-in local template pulse generation, and hence significantly reduces the power consumption and circuit complexity of the analog correlation receiver. A chip prototype of the IR-UWB receiver was...

This paper is concerned with the number of operating points in two-transistor circuits. Recently, a new method was proposed for analyzing twotransistor circuit and an Ebers-Moll BJT circuit possessing five operating points was shown numerically. In this paper, applying the technique of numerical validation, we verify the numerical results rigorously and prove that the circuit have more than thr...

In the presented paper, a sensorless driver circuit is designed, constructed and tested to control two types of three-phase Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). The presented control algorithm has three steps. In the first step, the SRM is controlled by an open-loop method. In the second step, mathematical model of the SRM phase, motor parameters and flux-current-rotor position relation are used in...

We present a framework for studying circuit complexity that is inspired by techniques that are used for analyzing the complexity of CSPs. We prove that the circuit complexity of a Boolean function f is characterized by the partial polymorphisms of f ’s truth table. Moreover, the non-deterministic circuit complexity of f is characterized by the polymorphisms of f ’s truth table.

The shape of an RF pulse is distorted upon propagating through an X-band accelerator structure due to dispersive effects. This distortion together with beam loading introduce energy spread between 192 bunches. In order to minimize this energy spread we modify the input RF pulse shape. The pulse propagation, energy gain, and beam loading are modelled with a mode-matching computer code and a circ...

This dissertation focuses on the implementation of integrating pulse transmitter with wide-band antenna array into a chip by CMOS process for beam-forming in millimeter-wave (mm-wave) active imaging applications. Integrated antenna arrays in this research electrically control and steer radiated-pulse beams towards objects to be imaged. Among imaging approaches, active imaging method provides mo...

Because of the importance of ultra-wideband (UWB) radar in various applications, short pulse generation in UWB systems has attracted a lot of attention in recent years. In order to shorten the pulse, nonlinear transmission line (NLTL) is imported, which expands the application of step recovery diode (SRD) for pulse generation. Detailed analysis and equations for this SRD and NLTL-based pulse ge...

Abstract: The application of electric field theory to widely different aspects of electrical insulation has led to more understanding the phenomena. Electric fields may be considered as the main reason for insulation failure. The purpose of this paper is to modify importance of analyzing electric field in insulation design. The SF6 circuit breaker is chosen as case study that encounters cri...

This paper reports a new piezoelectric prototype for pulse generation by energy harvesting from low frequency non-harmonic vibration. The pulse generator presented here consists of two parts: the electromechanical part and the load circuit. A metal rolling rod is used as the proof mass, moving along the substrate to achieve both actuating of the piezoelectric cantilever by magnetic coupling and...
