High-spatial-frequency fringes associated with reflection holographic optical elements are difficult to obtain with currently available recording materials. In this work, holographic reflection gratings were stored in a polyvinyl alcohol/acrylamide photopolymer. This material is formed of acrylamide photopolymer, which is considered interesting material for optical storage applications such as ...

OBJECTIVE We present a holographic near-the-eye display system enabling optical approaches for sight restoration to the blind, such as photovoltaic retinal prosthesis, optogenetic and other photoactivation techniques. We compare it with conventional liquid crystal displays (LCD) or digital light processing (DLP)-based displays in terms of image quality, field of view, optical efficiency and saf...

We demonstrate that semiconductor nanowires can be translated, rotated, cut, fused and organized into nontrivial structures using holographic optical traps. The holographic approach to nano-assembly allows for simultaneous independent manipulation of multiple nanowires, including relative translation and relative rotation.

Several applications for solid-state, random access beam directors have emerged in recent years, including scanners, laser radar components, interconnects, elements for addressing holographic storage, beam routing devices, and adaptive switching networks. We discuss implementation of optical phased arrays using a liquid crystal on silicon approach. By using very large scale integration (VLSI) t...

Techniques of digital holography are improved in order to obtain high-resolution, high-fidelity images of quantitative phase-contrast microscopy. In particular, the angular spectrum method of calculating holographic optical field is seen to have significant advantages including tight control of spurious noise components. Holographic phase images are obtained with 0.5 mum diffraction-limited lat...

Synthetic aperture is a well-known super-resolution technique which extends the resolution capabilities of an imaging system beyond the theoretical Rayleigh limit dictated by the system's actual aperture. Using this technique, several patterns acquired by an aperture-limited system, from various locations, are tiled together to one large pattern which could be captured only by a virtual system ...

The energy and spectral conditions for single-stage holographic recording of a diffraction optical element based on the carbazole-containing azo polymer, that forms singular light beams (optical vortices), have been established. With atomic-force microscopy (AFM), surface morphology recorded relief holograms was studying, their efficiency has estimated. topology generated phase singularities st...
