N-Methyl-bis (3-mesyloxypropyl)amine hydrochloride is now in use as an antitumer drug. In view of its activity against some bacteria the present work was conducted to study its mode of action of Bacillus subtilis. The compound was found to induce irreversible damage to bacterial DNA whereas its effect on RNA was temporary and depending on maintenance of effective concentrations of the compound.

Glutaraldehyde causes especially high autofluorescence. It reacted with proteins and peptides to generate visible to near-IR emitters. A model indicated that ethylenediamine and a secondary amine in the molecule were key components for the formation of emissive species. The mechanism enables us to control the generation and elimination of autofluorescence.

The synthesis and characterization of a biradical containing a 1,3-bisdiphenylene-2-phenylallyl (BDPA) free radical covalently attached to a 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) free radical are described. The synthesis of the biradical is a step toward improved polarizing agents for dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP).

A β-diketiminato magnesium alkyl complex is shown to be an effective pre-catalyst for the first reported catalytic hydroboration of organic isonitriles, RNC, with HBpin.
