Waveform Design using Second Order Cone Programming in Radar Systems

چکیده مقاله:

Transmit waveform design is one of the most important problems in active sensing and communication systems. This problem, due to the complexity and non-convexity, has been always the main topic of many papers for the decades. However, still an optimal solution which guarantees a global minimum for this multi-variable optimization problem is not found. In this paper, we propose an attracting methodology to design transmit waveform of active sensing and communication systems with good auto-correlation properties. To this end, we tackle the non-convexoptimization problem of Integrated Sidelobe Level (ISL) minimization with the unimodular constraint. Using the epigraph and Second Order Cone Programming (SOCP) approach, thein-hand non-convex optimization will resort to a Semi-Definite Programming (SDP). Then, we use Majorization-Minimization to deal with constraints and convert the obtained problem to aconvex optimization problem. Finally, the obtained optimization problem is tackled using CVX toolbox. To obtain the code vectors from the extracted optimal code matrix, we use rank-onedecomposition. The simulation and results indicate the powerfulness of the proposed algorithm in designing radar transmit sequences with unimodular constraint. We show the proposed algorithm can design long length sequences with a very small ISL values. The proposed framework further can be investigated for the future optimization problems, like Peak Sidelobe Level (PSL) minimization.

Second-Order Cone Programming Based Joint Design of OFDM Systems

In this paper, a joint optimal design is investigated for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems to reduce peak interference-to-carrier ratio (PICR), out-of-band power (OBP) emissions, and peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Two approaches, namely, the phase rotation approach and the constellation extension approach, are proposed to convert this joint design problem into a se...

Second-order cone programming

Second-order cone programming (SOCP) problems are convex optimization problems in which a linear function is minimized over the intersection of an affine linear manifold with the Cartesian product of second-order (Lorentz) cones. Linear programs, convex quadratic programs and quadratically constrained convex quadratic programs can all be formulated as SOCP problems, as can many other problems t...

Optimal Magnetic Shield Design with Second-Order Cone Programming

In this paper, we consider a continuous version of the convex network flow problem which involves the integral of the Euclidean norm of the flow and its square in the objective function. A discretized version of this problem can be cast as a secondorder cone program, for which efficient primal-dual interior-point algorithms have been developed recently. An optimal magnetic shielding design prob...

Weak infeasibility in second order cone programming

The objective of this work is to study weak infeasibility in second order cone programming. For this purpose, we consider a relaxation sequence of feasibility problems that mostly preserve the feasibility status of the original problem. This is used to show that for a given weakly infeasible problem at most m directions are needed to approach the cone, where m is the number of Lorentz cones. We...

Uniform Circular Array Pattern Synthesis Using Second-Order Cone Programming

Here we formulate second-order cone programs (SOCPs) for synthesizing complex weights for far-field directional (single-point mainbeam) patterns for narrowband arrays. These formulations, while constructed here with the uniform circular array (UCA) in mind, are actually quite general in that they control the arbitrary-pol sidelobe level (SLL) and co-pol SNR loss relative to ideal by minimizing ...

Improving Relative Transfer Function Estimates Using Second-Order Cone Programming

This paper addresses the estimation of Relative Transfer Function (RTF) between microphones from noisy recordings. We utilize an incomplete initial measurement of the RTF, which is known for only several frequency bins. The measurement is completed by finding its sparsest representation in the time domain. We propose to perform this reconstruction by solving a Second-Order Cone Program (SOCP). ...
