چکیده مقاله:

A total lunar eclipse is conjectured to have influence on the physical conditions of an environmental area, particularly on the brightness of the sky. The phenomenon might also be relevant on weather parameters change on Earth, such as temperature, humidity and pressure, though a straightforward correlation is not easy to establish. This work mainly aims at measuring the brightness of the sky and also meteorological variables like temperature, humidity, and pressure during the total lunar eclipse that occurred on April 14 and 15, 2014, by using sensors registering the variation of luminance, and a weather station. Analysis of the changes in the sky brightness during all the eclipsing event allows for the observing conditions to be quantified and rated according to various international scales.

A daytime measurement of the lunar contribution to the night sky brightness in LSST’s ugrizy bands–initial results

We report measurements from which we determine the spatial structure of the lunar contribution to night sky brightness, taken at the LSST site on Cerro Pachon in Chile. We use an array of six photodiodes with filters that approximate the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope’s u, g, r, i, z, and y bands. We use the sun as a proxy for the moon, and measure sky brightness as a function of zenith angle ...

RI Night sky brightness during sunspot maximum at ESO - Paranal ⋆

In this paper we present and discuss for the first time a large data set of U BV RI night sky brightness measurements collected at ESO-Paranal from April 2000 to September 2001. A total of about 3900 images obtained on 174 different nights with FORS1 were analysed using an automatic algorithm specifically designed for this purpose. This led to the construction of an unprecedented database that ...

Spatiotemporal change of sky polarization during the total solar eclipse on 29 March 2006 in Turkey: polarization patterns of the eclipsed sky observed by full-sky imaging polarimetry.

Using 180 degrees field-of-view (full-sky) imaging polarimetry, we measured the spatiotemporal change of the polarization of skylight during the total solar eclipse on 29 March 2006 in Turkey. We present our observations here on the temporal variation of the celestial patterns of the degree p and angle alpha of linear polarization of the eclipsed sky measured in the red (650 nm), green (550 nm)...

An Investigation of Brightness Changes in Ultrasound Images due to Temperature Variations in Liver Tissue during Radiofrequency Ablation

Introduction: one of the minimally invasive methods of treatmenting liver malignancies is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) which can be applied to primary or secondary tumors. Nevertheless, the disease recurrence is probable after RFA application partially due to the inadequate capability of temperature monitoring of the target tissue and visualizing the thermal damage. The goal of this work was t...

EUV brightness variations in the quiet Sun

The Coronal Diagnostic Spectrometer (CDS) onboard the SOHO satellite has been used to obtain movies of quiet Sun regions at disc centre. These movies were used to study brightness variations of solar features at three different temperatures sampled simultaneously in the chromospheric He I 584.3 Å (2·104 K), the transition region O V 629.7 Å (2.5·105 K) and coronal Mg IX 368.1 Å (106 K) lines. Stability of the Nine Sky Quality Meters in the Dutch Night Sky Brightness Monitoring Network

In the context of monitoring abundance of artificial light at night, the year-to-year stability of Sky Quality Meters (SQMs) is investigated by analysing intercalibrations derived from two measurement campaigns that were held in 2011 and 2012. An intercalibration comprises a light sensitivity factor and an offset for each SQM. The campaigns were concerned with monitoring measurements, each last...
