The Adsorption of Polyacrylamide Nanocomposite Hydrogels on Sandstone
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
A key parameter for the application of polymer gels in water shut off treatment is the adsorption of polymer gel onto the rock surface. So, the adsorption properties of a nanocomposite hydrogel were discussed in this research by crosslinking of sulfonated polyacrylamide/sodium montmorillonite aqueous solutions with chromium triacetate. The X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that exfoliated type of microstructure was formed. In addition, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was used to prove the nanocomposite hydrogel interacted with the rock surface qualitatively and the scanning electron microscopy to determine the surface characteristics of the nanocomposite hydrogel layer adsorbed on powdered rock surface. The general behavior of the response indicated that in comparison with the pressure, the adsorption is much more sensitive to the S/L ratio change. The addition of nanoclay of Na-montmorillonite increased the adsorption of NC hydrogel on the surface of powdered sandstone. The influence of pressure and solid/liquid ratio was investigated on adsorption amount. The results showed that nanocomposite hydrogel adsorption decreased continuously by increase of solid/liquid ratio while its adsorption was almost independent of the pressure. Besides, the maximum amount of nanocomposite hydrogel adsorption was obtained in 2500 psi pressure and 0.005 ratio of solid/liquid.

متن کاملPolyacrylamide-Clay Nanocomposite Hydrogels: Rheological and Light Scattering Characterization
The free-radical polymerization of acrylamide in aqueous clay dispersions and the structure of the resulting polymer-clay nanocomposite hydrogels have been investigated by rheometry using oscillatory deformation tests. Laponite was used as clay particles in the hydrogel preparation. The reactions were carried out with and without the presence of the chemical cross-linker N,N′-methylenebis(acryl...
متن کاملViscoelastic Properties of Polyacrylamide Nanocomposite Hydrogels Prepared in Electrolyte Media: Effect of Gelant Volume
In this work, nanocomposite (NC) hydrogels based on polyacrylamide/chromium triacetate were prepared at different reaction mixture (gelant) volumes and their crosslinking process and viscoelastic behaviors were studied. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns taken from the NC hydrogels containing laponite nanoparticles did not show any distinct characteristic basal reflection for all of the NC hy...
متن کاملA convenient green preparation of layered double hydroxide/polyacrylamide nanocomposite hydrogels with ultrahigh deformability.
A convenient green preparation method has been developed to achieve layered double hydroxide (LDH)/polymer nanocomposite (NC) hydrogels. In contrast to previous publications using toxic organic solvent of formamide or methanol in LDH exfoliation or anion exchange, the interlayer anion exchange and exfoliation of LDH are completed in one step with the help of an amino acid (L-serine). The LDH/po...

Hydrogels mimic native tissue microenvironment due to their porous and hydrated molecular structure. An emerging approach to reinforce polymeric hydrogels and to include multiple functionalities focuses on incorporating nanoparticles within the hydrogel network. A wide range of nanoparticles, such as carbon-based, polymeric, ceramic, and metallic nanomaterials can be integrated within the hydro...

Mechanobiology is an emerging scientific area that addresses the critical role of physical cues in directing cell morphology and function. For example, the effect of tissue elasticity on cell function is a major area of mechanobiology research because tissue stiffness modulates with disease, development, and injury. Static tissue-mimicking materials, or materials that cannot alter stiffness onc...
