Propose a model for delivering bad news based on Iranian-Islamic culture: Hybrid study

introduction: Bad news can cause a strong emotional and steressful response, unpleasant feeling or behavior, it can change their attitude towards themselves or their futures. Given the importance of how to tell bad news to a patient or his/her family and its consequent effect, this study aims to present a solution and a model for this issue based on Islamic- Iranian culture by reviewing previous studies and conducting a comprehensive study. Methode: This study is a hybrid study with three stages: theoretical, field work and analysis. Results: According to the results of this study, we have developed a model for delivering bad news based on Islamic-Iranian culture that named TAT[1]. This model consists of three stages: 1- Team working, preparation and coordination for delivering bad news; 2-Attention and Informing; 3- Transcending and planning for the future and follow-up Discussion and conclusion: According to this model, when delivering bad news, religious attitudes and faith of the client should be considered. Given the fact that hardships and illnesses can make people think of transcendence, regardless of their faith level. Hence, care settings should facilitate this process of transcendence for patients and their families and based on the wants and needs of them, provide spiritual support. [1] According to Dehkohda dictionary, TAT means Iran and Iranians. This word was used by non-Iranians when talking about Iran and Iranians.
