Probiotic Bacteria in Wound Healing; An in-vivo study
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Background: Probiotics are food supplements, which benefits the host by improving its intestinal microbial balance. Probiotics are used as diet supplements to prevent diarrhoea and improve lactose tolerance. Objective: The present study deals with isolation of a potent probiotic strain capable of inducing healing properties in rat model.Method: Probiotic VITSAMJ1 was isolated from goat milk using MRS media. The antimicrobial assay was carried out against S. aureus (MTCC 3160) and the wound healing properties were assessed on female Wistar rats. A 1.5 cm2 subcutaneous wound was induced upon the rats, and probiotic gel formulation was tropically applied onto the wounds and tissues biopsy was carried out after 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11th days. Total leucocyte count and Histopathological analysis were performed after each interval. Results: VITSAMJ1 displayed a zone of inhibition of 22 mm. The groups treated with probiotic gel showed faster healing as compared to the control set. Histopathological examination suggested that the groups treated with probiotic gel formulation showed the significantly higher level of total leucocyte count and an improved wound healing process. By 3rd day the leucocyte counts of the wounded rat treated with the effective isolates VITSAMJ1 was much higher (11,000 uL-1) as compared to the controls (7,000 uL-1). Conclusion: VITSAMJ1 can be effectively used as a probiotic ointment for wound healing.

Scar formation is a frequently occurring unwanted result of healing of a skin wound. The mechanisms causing scar formation are not fully understood, although many studies have attempted to unravel this issue. Most of these studies were performed in animals or in in vitro models, but both have major drawbacks. In the present study we aimed to develop a representative model in which the human wou...

Background and objectives: The wounds are still the health tribulations at the present time. In the present research the effect of a new herbal ointment (Oppyheal) in treatment of rat’s wound has been investigated. The effectiveness of the ointment was compared with the Fibrinolysin/DNAse. Methods: Fifty four male Wistar rats were used. The wound was crea...

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to compare the effect on corneal wound healing of 3 differently manufactured blood derivatives [autologous serum (AS), platelet-rich plasma, and serum derived from plasma rich in growth factors (s-PRGF)]. METHODS Scratch wound-healing assays were performed on rabbit primary corneal epithelial cultures and human corneal epithelial cells. Additionally, mechanic...
متن کاملAloe vera and Vitis vinifera improve wound healing in an in vivo rat burn wound model.
Aloe vera and Vitis vinifera have been traditionally used as wound healing agents. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of aloe emodin and resveratrol in the burn wound healing procedure. Burn wounds are common in developed and developing countries, however, in developing countries, the incidence of severe complications is higher and financial resources are limited. The results of...
