چکیده مقاله:
EDITORIAL Table 1 summarizes recommendations based on the presented papers. To prevent infection, it is critical to identify high-risk patients and control those risks prior to surgery. Action must be taken at every step of the surgical process, from preoperative to postoperative protocols, including intraoperative measures. In this Editorial some recent issues that surgeons should explore to try to prevent infection after TKA have been reviewed. Our goal must be to lower the current rate of infection following TKA.

PURPOSE To evaluate the incidence and risk factors of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in a high-volume hospital. METHODS Records of 1133 primary TKAs were reviewed. Correlation between surgery volume and infection rate was determined. Risk factors for PJI were identified using case-control analysis of variables. TKAs performed between ...

One of the most devastating complications of prosthetic knee arthroplasty is a periprosthetic infection. This complication occurs in 1-2% of knee arthroplasties [1,2] and can exceed 4% in immunocompromized individuals [3] and 7% after revision surgery [4]. Prosthetic infection leads to loosening of the implant, [5,6]. In this circumstances revision surgery is required. Because of the diversity ...
