Predict risky behaviors based on affiliation with delinquent peers, depression and problem-solving.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to predict the occurrence of high-risk behaviors based on affiliation with delinquent peers, depression and problem-solving. Method: The research method was descriptive correlational. The sample consisted of 130 (male) students who were studying in the city of Borujen in the academic year of 2016-2017, were selected by multistage random cluster sampling and were evaluated by questionnaires of the revised version of the Risk-Behavior, Affiliation with Delinquent Peers, Hepner's Problem Solving. Data were analyzed by using SPSS and AMOS software and Structural Equation Analysis (SEM) method. Findings: findings indicated that affiliation with delinquent peers on tendency to smoking, hookah and use of psychotropic substances; problem solving confidence factor on suicide; approach-avoidance style factor of Problem Solving on the tendency to use psychotropic substances; the personal control factor of problem solving on struggle, suicide and tendency to use psychotropic substances; and finally, depression on suicide, smoking and hookah tendency and use of psychotropic substances have a direct impact. Results: it can be concluded that, in general, the findings of the present study support the role of affiliation with delinquent peers, depression and problem-solving in predicting components of high-risk behaviors.
