چکیده مقاله:
Background Women with PCOS have increased AMH levels due to accumulated preantral and small antral in follicles. Ovulation improvement following decrease in levels of AMH could accure in these patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of metformin on anti-Mullerian hormone levels in women with polycystic ovary syndrome and infertility MaterialsAndMethods This randomized clinical trial study was done on 30 infertile patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (using the Rotterdam criteria) in 1393, in infertility center of Shahid Beheshti hospital in kashan. Demographic data included age, BMI, history of abortion and contraception, and hirsutism were recorded. Metformin 1, 500 mg for 8 weeks were prescribed, then AMH level was checked before and after treatment. Results were analyzed by using X2, t test, Mann-Whitney and logistic regression. Results Mean age of patients was 25.2 ± 4.2 years and BMI was 26.2 ± 3.8. Patients had 60% hirsutism, 93% oligomenorrhea and 80% infertility. AMH levels before treatment with metformin was equal to 10 ± 3.75 and after treatment was 7.8 ± 3.7 which decreased significantly (P=0.008). Conclusion The results of this study showed that metformin for 2 months could decrease AMH significantly.

The level of serum Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) in patients can be 2-3 times higher than in healthy women. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of metformin on AMH level in PCOS patients suffering from infertility. Methods In this pre and post clinical trial, 30 infertile patients wit...
متن کاملRelationship between Serum Levels of Anti-Mullerian Hormone, Adiponectin and Oxidative Stress Markers in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is a valid indicator of ovarian function and is used for PCOS diagnosis. Some studies have shown that adipokines affect the synthesis of AMH, and therefore they are somehow related in function. The aim of the present study was to determine the relationshi...

متن کاملAnti-Müllerian hormone in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a glycoprotein produced in the granulosa cells of the ovary. It is involved in the regulation of follicular growth and development. AMH serum and follicular fluid concentration is increased in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which correlates with the extent of ovarian dysfunction and clinical manifestation of the syndrome. It is unclear whether the h...
