چکیده مقاله:

Solar magnetic tornadoes are known to be one of the mass and energy transport mechanisms from the lower solar atmosphere into the upper layers of the solar corona. A bright spiral structure with two arms is observed using high-cadence EUV images of 171, 193 and 304 Ǻ channels of Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) aboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) on 10th of July 2011 for three hours. The structure studied here looks bright in front of dark background emissions. The rotational energy budget of this tornado is estimated using three different approaches. Results showed the rotational energy ranges between 1.95×1018 erg to 3.36×1019 erg. After correcting for the solar differential rotation, the oscillatory behaviour of the structure is studied using FFT technique. Results show four different regimes of oscillations: 3-min, 5-6 min, 8-11 min, and 15-17 min. The showed origin of each of these oscillations are discussed.

A solar tornado caused by flares

An enormous solar tornado was observed by SDO/AIA on 25 September 2011. It was mainly associated with a quiescent prominence with an overlying coronal cavity. We investigate the triggering mechanism of the solar tornado by using the data from two instruments: SDO/AIA and STEREO-A/EUVI, covering the Sun from two directions. The tornado appeared near to the active region NOAA 11303 that produced ...

Observing Solar-like Oscillations

We review techniques for measuring stellar oscillations in solartype stars. Despite great efforts, no unambiguous detections have been made. A new method, based on monitoring the equivalent widths of strong lines, shows promise but is yet to be confirmed. We also discuss several subtleties, such as the need to correct for CCD non-linearities and the importance of data weighting. 1. Why search f...

Bayesian Analysis of Solar Oscillations

A Bayesian probability based approach is applied to the problem of detecting and parameterizing oscillations in the upper solar atmosphere for the first time. Due to its statistical origin, this method provides a mechanism for determining the number of oscillations present, gives precise estimates of the oscillation parameters with a self-consistent statistical error analysis, and allows the os...

Observations of Solar-like Oscillations

There has been tremendous progress in observing oscillations in solar-type stars. In a few short years we have moved from ambiguous detections to firm measurements. We review the recent results, most of which have come from high-precision Doppler measurements. We also review briefly the results on giant and supergiant stars and the prospects for the future.

Oscillations of solar atmosphere neutrinos

The Sun is a source of high energy neutrinos (E ∼ 10 GeV) produced by cosmic ray interactions in the solar atmosphere. We study the impact of three-flavor oscillations (in vacuum and in matter) on solar atmosphere neutrinos, and calculate their observable fluxes at Earth, as well as their event rates in a kilometer-scale detector in water or ice. We find that peculiar three-flavor oscillation e...
