Optimal Stent Expansion by Stent Balloon Multiple Inflation at Nominal Pressure in Resistant Lesions: A New Technique
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of four-time inflation of the stent balloon at nominal pressure on optimal stent expansion in resistant lesions. Materials and Methods: This interventional study was conducted on 39 patients with coronary artery lesions, in whom Zotarolimus-eluting stents (N=20), Paclitaxel-eluting stents (N=11) and other stents (N=8) were deployed four times at nominal inflation pressure and increased inflation times (5, 15, 30 and 45 seconds). After the deployments, enhanced stent visualization imaging technique (IC stent) was used to assess stent placement and artery expansion. Results: In this study, early success rate was estimated at 79.5% using the enhanced stent visualization imaging technique. In addition, major adverse cardiac event (MACE) was determined at 2.6%. Also, conventional methods resulted in lower success rate and higher MACE in resistant lesions. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, four-time stent balloon inflation at nominal pressure could allow adequate stent expansion in resistant lesions leading to lower MACE.

متن کاملCoronary stent implantation technique: prolonged inflation time maximizes stent expansion.
OBJECTIVES To determine whether longer periods of stent balloon inflation result in greater minimal luminal diameter (MLD) as measured by quantitative coronary analysis (QCA), and to determine whether measured size correlated with that predicted by pressure-diameter nomograms. METHODS Seventy-four stents were implanted in 52 patients. Stent acquisitions at a steady inflation pressure were tak...
متن کاملAggressive plaque modification with rotational atherectomy and cutting balloon for optimal stent expansion in calcified lesions
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the factors affecting optimal stent expansion in calcified lesions treated by aggressive plaque modification with rotational atherectomy (RA) and a cutting balloon (CB). METHODS From January 2014 to May 2015, 92 patients with moderate to severe coronary calcified lesions underwent rotational atherectomy and intravascular ultrasound imaging at Chinese PLA General Hospital...
متن کاملStaged inflation: An approach with achievement of optimal luminal gain and reduced rate of spontaneous coronary artery dissection.
Introduction Nowadays, interventional cardiology brought a great success to the treatment of many cardiovascular disorders. Despite these great beneficial effects, it has side effects related to the applied techniques. Among them, inflation pressure and pattern of inflation play fundamental role in this regard. By low and very high inflation pressures, the rate of stent thrombosis and in-stent ...

Dear Editor: We read with interest the report by Metha and colleagues regarding the use of a stent within a stent for the treatment of dissecting vertebral artery aneurysms (1). It would seem to have been appropriate for these authors to cite our earlier report regarding the use of this technique (2, 3). Writing and publishing scientific papers is facilitated by the availability of modern elect...
متن کاملPlastic Biliary Stent Migration During Multiple Stents Placement and Successful Endoscopic Removal Using Intra-Stent Balloon Inflation Technique: A Case Report and Literature Review
BACKGROUND Late migration of a plastic biliary stent after endoscopic placement is a well known complication, but there is little information regarding migration of a plastic stent during multiple stents placement. CASE REPORT A white man was hospitalized for severe jaundice due to neoplastic hilar stenosis. Surgical eligibility appeared unclear on admission and endoscopy was carried out, but...
