Nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes under different water regimes
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Drought is a serious environmental stress limiting growth and productivity in peanut and other crops. Nutrient uptake of peanut is reduced under drought condition, which reduces yield. The objectives of this study were to investigate nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes in response to drought and to estimate the relationship between nutrient uptake and peanut yield under different water regimes. Pot experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in the dry season 2002/03 and the rainy season 2003. Three soil moisture levels [field capacity (FC), 2/3 available soil water (2/3 AW) and 1/3 available soil water (1/3 AW)] were assigned as factor A and 11 peanut genotypes as factor B. Total nutrient uptake was determined at harvest. Season×water regime interactions and differences in seasons, water regimes and genotypes were significant for all nutrient uptakes. The interactions between season and genotype were significant for N and K uptakes. The nutrient uptakes of peanut plants grown under FC were higher than those plants grown under water stress treatments. Tifton 8 was the highest genotype for all nutrient uptakes in both dry and rainy seasons, while ICGV 98303 and KK 60-3 had high nutrient uptake under water stress condition. The nutrient uptake of peanut in the rainy season was higher than the dry season. The relationships between nutrient uptake parameters, biomass and pod dry weight were positive and significant in both seasons. This information is important for peanut breeder interested in developing peanut lines with reasonably high nutrient uptake under drought condition. Keywords: Biomass; Harvest index; Relationship; Nitrogen uptake; Water stress.

Phytoplankton nutrient competition under dynamic light regimes
Many physiological processes in phytoplankton, including nutrient uptake, vary on a number of temporal scales. Experiments show that the daily cycle in irradiance affects nutrient uptake rates. We used a Droop-based model of resource competition to investigate how diel variability in nutrient uptake influences phytoplankton competition and community structure. The analytical approximation we de...
متن کاملYield and water use efficiency of early potato grown under different irrigation regimes
Potato grown for early or off-season production plays a crucial role in the economy of several areas in the Mediterranean countries. Irrigation is important for determining yield and earliness, thus a better investigation of plant response under various pedo-climatic conditions can help to improve resource use efficiency and farmer income. A two-year field research (2009-2010) was carried o...

In order to detect the reaction of different potato genotypes to different irrigation regimes and evaluate their water productivity, a research was carried out as a split plot experiment based on a randomized complete block design with three replications in Agricultural Research Center and Natural Resources of Ardabil, Iran in 2015-2016. Five potato genotypes (Agria, Caesar, Savalan, 397081-1 a...

Drought affects yield of peanut, but its effect on oleic and linoleic acids that influence its oil quality of peanut genotypes with different levels of drought resistance has not been clearly investigated. Therefore, the aims of this research were to determine whether soil water levels could affect oil quality by changes in fatty acid compositions of peanut, and to investigate the changes i...

متن کاملBlack carbon decomposition under varying water regimes
The stability of biomass-derived black carbon (BC) or biochar as a slow cycling pool in the global C cycle is an important property and is likely governed by environmental conditions. This study investigated the effects of water regimes (saturated, unsaturated and alternating saturated–unsaturated conditions) and differences in BC materials, produced by carbonizing corn residues and oak wood at...
