Market Based Analysis of Natural Gas and Electricity Export via System Dynamics

چکیده مقاله:
By increasing the extraction of natural gas, its role in the restructured power systems is being expanded, due to its lower pollution. Iran has the second largest reserves of natural gas in the world and exports it to different countries. This paper represents long run analysis of natural gas export from Iran to Turkey as a case study, considering direct transfer and exporting via the power market. In this regard, a system dynamics model is approached for long run analysis of the considered scenarios. The uncertainty of natural gas price is modeled by Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) for a long run period and four generation technologies including coal-fired, combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT), gas turbine (GT) and wind participate in the power market with a uniform price structure. The published data by energy information administration (EIA) about natural gas charges, costs of electricity generation and export of natural gas and electricity are applied in the simulated models. The results show that exporting the natural gas at real time price is profitable, while its conversion into electricity and exporting at market price is disadvantageous, even by expanding the renewable resources.

Transition in Iran’s Electricity Market Considering the Policies on Elimination of Electricity Subsidies: System Dynamics Application
Because of electricity subsidies, electricity price in Iran is much lower than its real value, and the growth of electricity demand is much more than its rational rate, which in turn implies ever increasing investment in the electricity section by the Government. Therefore, the recent Government policies are based on elimination of electricity subsidies, followed by commissioning complete elect...
متن کاملCoordinated Planning and Scheduling of Electricity and Natural Gas Systems
In this paper we propose a model for coordinated planning of power and natural gas systems, as a part of electricity supply chain. This model takes into account costs and constraints of both systems, and with hiring simplifications and linearization methods transforms initially nonlinear formulation to a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem. Natural gas would be assumed steady state,...

متن کاملReview of System Dynamics models for electricity market simulations
This paper provides a review on modeling electricity markets with System Dynamics (SD) focusing on deregulated electricity market models. First the SD method is classified within the wide field of electricity market modeling. Then all distinctive properties of the SD method in this context are elaborated. After an overview of first SD models in energy economics, a comprehensive review of models...
متن کاملNatural Gas and Electricity Optimal Power Flow
In this paper, the combined natural gas and electric optimal power flow (GEOPF) is presented. It shows fundamental modeling of the natural gas network to be used for the GEOPF, and describes the equality constraints which describe the energy transformation between gas and electric networks at combined nodes (i.e., generators). We also present the formulation of the natural gas loadflow problem,...
متن کاملAnalysis of Chlorine Gas Incident Simulation and Dispersion Within a Complex and Populated Urban Area Via Computation Fluid Dynamics
In some instances, it is inevitable that large amounts of potentially hazardous chemicals like chlorine gas are stored and used in facilities in densely populated areas. In such cases, all safety issues must be carefully considered. To reach this goal, it is important to have accurate information concerning chlorine gas behaviors and how it is dispersed in dense urban areas. Furthermore, mainta...
