Investigating the Presence of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Doogh
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Background and purpose: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one of the most common environmental pollutants that are proven to be carcinogenic and mutagenic. Doogh, is a widely consumed fermented yoghurt drink in Iran. The aim of this study was to determine the presence and concentration of PAHs in different brands of Doogh in Tehran, Iran. Materials and methods: In this study, we synthesized multi-walled magnetic carbon nanotubes using iron oxide. Then synthesized magnetic nanotubes were used for absorption and extraction of PAHs from Doogh matrix. After sample preparation, concentrations of all PAHs were measured by GC-MS. Materials and methods: In this study, we synthesized multi-walled magnetic carbon nanotubes using iron oxide. Then synthesized magnetic nanotubes were used for absorption and extraction of PAHs from 24 samples of Doogh matrix (3 high-consumption brands randomly selected in all four seasons and two dates) and one sample as a control. After sample preparation, concentrations of all 16 PAHs were measured by GC-MS. Conclusion: In this study, the concentrations of PAHs in different brands of Doogh were lower than standard levels, so it would create no harmful effect to the consumers.

Biodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...
متن کاملTransport of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in a Calcareous Wetland Soil
Knowledge of transport and degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is important in assessing PAH contamination of soils and water resources. The transport of naphthalene, anthracene, pyrene and phenanthrene was determined in a contaminated calcareous soil obtained from the Shadegan wetland (Khozestan, Iran) considering a column study in laboratory conditions. The PAHs were added ...

متن کاملDetermination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Ambient Urban Air
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHS) have been determined in the atmosphere of Isfahan, Iran. Airborne particulate matter was sampled using a high-volume air sampler at roof-top level (~6m). Extraction of PAHS from airborne particulate matter has been performed using SFE system and the relationship between the extraction temperature and the recovery of PAHS</su...
متن کاملCapillary Electrochromatography: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Electrochromatography is utilized to separate a mixture of 16 different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Fused-silica capillary columns ranging in size from 50 to 150 pm i.d. were packed (20-40-cm sections) with 3-pm octadecylsilica particles. A potential of 15-30 kV is applied across the 30-50-cm total length capillary column to generate electroosmotic flow that carries the PAHs throug...
