Idiopathic Hypereosinophilic Syndrome

چکیده مقاله:
Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is a multisystem disease with peripheral blood eosinophilia of at least 6 months duration, multiple organ system involvement, and no evidence for other known causes of eosinophilia. It is characteristically a disease of middle-aged men, often has a poor prognosis and is seldom found during childhood. Heart dicsease, characterized by endomyocardial fibrosis is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in the idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome. Endomyocardial biopsy findings showed that the endothelial cells in the endocardium and of the microvasculature were the primary targets of the tissue damage. Chemotherapy of lower the eosinophil counts has resulted in marked inprovement of HES prognosis, as have agressive medical and surgical approaches to cardiovascular complications. We report an 8 year old boy who we believe had HES with cardiovascular disfunction as mitral and tricuspid regurgitation.

A 14 year old girl with idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is described. In addition to weight loss, anaemia, amenorrhoea, general lethargy, anorexia, mouth ulcers, blisters of hands and feet, and petechial skin rash, she had features of involvement of the cardiovascular system as the major complication. She responded well to treatment. After a comprehensive search of the published reports 1...

Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is empirically defined as the presence of prolonged eosinophilia without an identifiable underlying cause, and with evidence of end-organ dysfunction. Virtually any organ system may be involved, most frequently the heart, the central and peripheral nervous system, the lungs and the skin. We report on two clinical cases where the diagnosis of HES, with...

Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by prolonged eosinophilia without an identifiable cause, ultimately resulting in organ dysfunction. Three major types of neurologic involvement have been well defined in HES; however, to our knowledge, inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) in association with HES has not been reported. We present a case of IPT of the...

Introduction Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is a rare disease characterized by persistent eosinophilia (>1,500 eosinophils× 10/L) for at least 6 months that remains unexplained in spite of a comprehensive evaluations and evidence of organ dysfunction primarily attributed to the eosinophilia. Loeffler’s endocarditis is a myocardial disease, thought to be secondary to idiopathic hypereosinophil...
