Higher Education Internationalization in European Union

Background: Nowadays, the wordwide trend for becoming most competitive and the most dynamic knowledge based economy is the responsibility of universities. The European Union is moving in this direction for global competitiveness, the retrieval process and brain circulation and income generation. This study, aimed to evaluate the internationalization trend of higher education in Europe. Methods: Using a review study, available documents in the university websites of the European Union were searched and the databases of Science Direct, Google Scholar, PubMed articles available since 1953- 2016 were examined. The key words related to the internationalization of higher education in Europe were used. Results: A distinguished international higher education in Europe started and led to the emergence of the so-called called “Bologna Process” (June 1999). Bologna process was initiated with the Sorbonne Declaration (1998). The Bucharest Declaration (2012) focused to create spaces of higher education in the field of national, regional and global. The main elements of the Bologna process, including the introduction of three degrees, qualifications framework, credit transfer and saving system in Europe, Diploma complements, quality assurance and joint documents. Conclusion: Internationalization of higher education the will to change by the public and state likewise plays a significant role and access to resources such as budgets, economic, social and cultural developments, and accountability to the information and globalization era have crucial roles. Exploring the experiences of others is as the raw materials, we can, to exploit of their community. This raw material transformation of worthwhile products to fit their native culture.
