چکیده مقاله:
The data were collected from 1992 to 2009 in Burri, White Boni and Black Boni sheep maintained at the Regional Research Station in the Central Highlands of Yemen. Data were analyzed to study the effects of environmental and genetic factors on body weight and growth rate from birth to weaning. The least square means for body weights (BW) were 2.54, 2.18 and 2.26 kg for birth; 12.49, 10.58 and 11.14 kg for weaning weight (WW) and 114.91, 98.68 and 106.04 g for growth rate in Barri, Black Boni and White Boni sheep, respectively. Year of birth effects were significant (P

متن کاملFactors Affecting Hematological Profiles in Three Ethiopian Indigenous Goat Breeds
Hematological parameters were studied in 163 apparently healthy goats comprised of 3 indigenous breeds at Adami-Tulu Agricultural Research Centre (ATARC) and Sheno Agricultural Research Centre (SARC), Ethiopia. Data were analyzed for the effect of breed, sex, age, and season. Hemoglobin (Hb) was significantly higher (P<0.0001) for Arsi-Bale (AB) than Longeared Somali (LES) and Central Highland ...
متن کاملInbreeding effects on lamb pre-weaning growth traits and survival in three Iranian sheep breeds
The present study was performed to study the effect of inbreeding on the pre-weaning growth traits including the birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), average daily gain (ADG), Kleiber ratio (KR) and lamb survival from birth to weaning (SUR) in Baluchi, Iran-Black and Zandi sheep. Significant positive inbreeding trends were found only for Baluchi and Iran-Black breeds as 0.038 and 0.278, resp...
متن کاملPolymorphisms of the Ovine Leptin Gene and its Association with Growth and Carcass Traits in Three Iranian Sheep Breeds
Leptin (LEP), the expression product of the obese gene produced primarily in the adipose tissue, is related to feed intake, growth and lipid metabolism. The aim of this study was to study the possible association between polymorphism of the LEP gene with growth and carcass traits among three Iranian sheep breeds of the Shal, Zandi and Zel varieties. A total of 180 purebred animals of the Shal, ...
متن کاملNon-Genetic Factors Affecting Grasscutter Production Traits. 1. Growth Traits
This study was conducted at the grasscutter section of the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana, to estimate effects of non-genetic factors on growth traits. Data consisted of records of 502 kids born from 136 does and 40 sires from 2006 to 2010. Feed intake increased (P<0.01) with increasing parity and years, whilst feed efficiency declined (P<0.01) with years. Animals consumed less (P<0.01...
