Determination of the Most Important Diagnostic Criteria for COVID-19: A Step forward to Design an Intelligent Clinical Decision Support System

چکیده مقاله:
Background & Objective: Since the clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is not well known yet, investigating its origin, etiology, diagnostic criteria, clinical manifestations, risk factors, treatments, and other related aspects is extremely important. In this situation, clinical experts face many uncertainties to make decision about COVID-19 prognosis based on their judgment. Accordingly, this study aimed to determine the diagnostic criteria for COVID-19 as a prerequisite to develop clinical diagnostic models. Materials & Methods: In this retrospective study, the Enter method of the binary logistic regression (BLR) and the Forward Wald method were used to measure the odds ratio (OR) and the strength of each criterion, respectively. P-value<0.05 was considered as statistically significant for bivariate correlation coefficient. Results: Phi-Crammer’s examination test showed that 12 diagnostic criteria were statistically important; measuring OR revealed that six criteria had the best diagnostic power. Finally, true classification rate and the area under receiver operative characteristics curve (AUC) were calculated as 90.25% and 0.835, respectively. Conclusion: Identification of diagnostic criteria has become the standard approach for disease modeling; it helps to design decision support tools. After analyzing and comparing six diagnostic performance measures, we observed that these variables have a high diagnostic power for COVID-19 detection.

Design and implementation of an intelligent clinical decision support system for diagnosis and prediction of chronic kidney disease
Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the most important public health concerns worldwide. The steady increase in the number of people with End-stage renal disease (ESRD) needing a kidney transplant to survive and incur high costs, highlights early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This study aimed to design a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) for diagnosing CKD and p...

Background: Selection of the right foods is the first step to have a healthy society. Food selection criteria depend on the food characteristics and food culture in an area. One of the most important factors in selection of the food items is the individuals' social differences and gender issues. Methods: In this paper, 500 people were selected from Yazd city. Later, this population was categor...
متن کاملA clinical decision support system for contact lens evaluation
Background: Contact lenses are transparent, thin plastic disks that cover the surface of the cornea. Appropriate lens prescription should be performed properly by an expert to provide better visual acuity and reduce side effects. The lens administration is a multi-stage, complex and time-consuming process involving many considerations. The purpose of this study was to develop a decision support...
متن کاملIntelligent Decision Support for Assembly System Design
The design of an assembly system is a complex problem, often requiring large teams of engineers with significant experience and expertise. Based on studies of the product design, these teams must select an assembly sequence, generate a corresponding process plan, identify the resources capable of completing the tasks in the process plan, and group these resources into a system of workstations t...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Clinical decision support system, a potential solution for diagnostic accuracy improvement in oral squamous cell carcinoma: A systematic review
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a rapidly progressive disease and despite the progress in the treatment of cancer, remains a life-threatening illness with a poor prognosis. Diagnostic techniques of the oral cavity are not painful, non-invasive, simple and inexpensive methods. Clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) are the most important diagnostic technologies used...
