Describe the Traditional Rain Water Harvesting "Perch" Method in Boyerahmad Area

چکیده مقاله:
In recent decades, extensive research has been carried out to collect and store rain and runoff around the world. In addition to applying different water harvesting methods, and reducing the risk of runoff, other measures such as increasing soil moisture content and cultivation of tree and rangeland species have been studied. There are many water-related environmental problems which, according to researchers, are partly due to the use of new technologies. Part of the body of research focuses on the importance of the indigenous knowledge of water harvesting techniques, and even its integration with new knowledge as a means of sustainable development in this sector. Identifying these traditional methods, which are usually local and consistent with the ecosystem of the region, is the first step towards using them. Since ancient times, different methods have been used for collecting runoff and rainwater in different parts of Iran, in accordance with different climates of Iran. In this paper, one of the native methods of collecting rainwater, known as Perch, used in the past in the mountainous regions of Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad province is introduced for the first time.

Evaluation of water supply for olive trees through rainwater harvesting in semi-arid regions in Kohgiloyeh va Boyerahmad Province
Abstract Lack of stored soil moisture is an essential factor in intensification of the problems of arid and semi-arid areas in Kohgiloyeh va Boyerahmad Province. In these areas, limited surface water and groundwater have rendered vast areas of the region’s fertile lands useless. Despite these problems, appropriate conditions can be provided to plant resistant and adapted species such as olive...

The use of Rain-Water Harvesting (RWH) systems for fruit seedling planting in addition to helping to make optimal use of runoff and soil and water conservation, will also help the production of agricultural and horticultural products. Accordingly, this study has focused on the investigation of the effects of RWH systems on the growth of fruit seedlings and their establishment, especially i...
متن کاملRainfall Water Runoff Determination Using Land Cover Classification of Satellite Images For Rain Water Harvesting Application
In country like India where an amount of precipitation is limited to specific period (monsoon season) and if not utilized, water becomes a scary resource. At this same time the present statistics about the average water table in the country indicates a rapid fall in the level. There is an immense need to make a proper utilization of water and increase in ground water level by means of rain wate...

VANCLAY, J.K. 1989. Modelling selection harvesting in tropical rain forests. Long term yield estimates for natural forests require a harvesting model to enable future yields to be estimated reliably. The model should predict the felled stems, the proportion of these which are merchantable, and any damage to the residual stand. Regression analyses was used to develop a model of current logging p...
متن کاملDetermining the Potential of Rain Water Harvesting Based on Geomorphological Factors and Analytic Hierarchy Process (Kalat Watershed, Khorasan Razavi Province)
In this research, a method is proposed to identify and determine rainwater harvesting potential in a watershed based on geomorphological factors through integrating Geographical Information System (GIS) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). For this purpose, land use, land cover, topography, geology, soil, vegetation, and soil permeability factors were considered the as main geomorphological ...
متن کاملInvestigating the factors affecting the Qanat discharge as a method for sustainable harvesting water from underground water resources
Qanat is a technique for obtaining water and transferring it for various uses. Due to the widespread arid and semi-arid areas in Iran, Qanat is the most sustainable method to obtain underground water. Considering the role of the Qanat in providing water to dry areas in the current situation of the country, where the issue of water shortage and water resources management is very important. Due t...
