چکیده مقاله:
Physical, chemical and biological attributes of soil surface are significantly affected by tillage practices and crop rotation. The objective of this study was to determine the short-term (2006-2009) effects of conventional and conservational tillage practices on selected soil physical properties of a heavy clay soil under two wheat-corn and wheatlegume rotation in a semi-arid Mediterranean Region. Treatments included conventional tillage with residue incorporated in soil (CT1), conventional tillage with burned residue (CT2), reduced tillage with heavy tandem disc-harrow (RT1), reduced tillage with rotary tiller (RT2), reduced tillage with heavy tandem disc harrow fallowed by no-tillage (RNT) and no tillage (NT). Disturbed and undisturbed soil samples were collected to determine saturated hydraulic conductivity (HC), bulk density (BD), mean weight diameter (MWD), available water content (AWC) and total porosity at 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm depths. The highest HC values of 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm depths were obtained with CT1 (9.70×10-6 m s-1, 8.74×10-6 m s-1) and CT2 (9.39×10-6 m s-1, 8.58×10-6 m s-1) applications. CT2 treatment destructed the soil aggregates and resulted in greater bulk density and low total porosity at 0-10 cm depth. The available water content at 0-10 cm depth was significantly reduced with the CT1 (P

Impacts of different tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yield under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions
Effects of six tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yields were evaluated for a clay soil (Typic Haploxererts) under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions in a three year study (2006-2009). The experiment was designed as a completely randomized-block with three replications. Treatments were: conventional tillage with residue incorporated (CT1), conventional tillage wi...

A field experiment was conducted to compare the effects of long-term tillage and cropresidue management on some physical properties and nitrate leaching of a Typic Haploxerertsoil under winter wheat (Triticum vulgare L.)-soybean (Glycine max L.) double-croppingsystem. The tillage systems consisted of conventional tillage with stubble (CT1), conventionaltillage with stubbles burned (CT2), heavy ...

a long-term rotation experiment was established in 2001 to compare conservation or reduced tillage systems (shallow rototiller and chisel tillage) with conventional tillage system using mouldboard plough in a semi-arid region with mediterranean climate. field experiments were conducted to determine weed density and profitability of cropping systems in a crop rotation of winter wheat (triticum a...
متن کاملContrasting soil physical properties after zero and traditional tillage of an alluvial soil in the semi-arid subtropics
Zero till is commonly advocated as a preferred cropping system to conventional, multicultivation practices. Zero till is particularly attractive on clay soils, to minimise compaction and induce natural structure formation through shrink±swell cycles. Increases in soil water storage and increased numbers of (bene®cial) soil fauna with zero till have been reported, relative to traditional tillage...
متن کاملCatchment-scale spatial variability analysis of soil hydro-physical properties in a semi-arid region of Iran
Soil hydrau-physical data are important for many hydrological modelings. They are the main variables controllingthe key processes such as water and chemicals movement and transport in the soil profiles. This study was conductedin order to analyze the spatial distribution of selected soil hydrau-physcial characteristics including infiltration rate(IR), saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks), bulk...
متن کاملPrincipal Component Analysis for Soil Conservation Tillage vs Conventional Tillage in Semi Arid Region of Punjab Province of Pakistan
Principal component analysis is a valid method used for data compression and information extraction in a given set of experiments. It is a well-known classical data analysis technique. There are a number of algorithms for solving the problems, some scaling better than others. Wheat ranks as the staple food of most of the nations as well as an agent of poverty reduction, food security and world ...
