چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: The present study seeks to describe and analyze the syntactic features of children with severely hearing loss who had access to the hearing aids compared with children with normal hearing, assigning them to the same separate gender classes. Materials and Methods: In the present study, eight children with severe hearing impairment who used a hearing aid and eight hearing children matched for age and gender were selected using an available sampling method based on the principles of auditory-verbal approach. Hearing children had an average age of 5.45 ±1.9 years and subjects had a mean age of 5.43±2.17 years and their rehabilitation had begun before they were 18 months old. The assessment instrument of the study included the language development test, TOLDP-3. The syntactic skills of these children were analyzed and compared with the hearing children of the same age based on gender. Results: There was a significant difference between the syntactic scores of the hearing-impaired children and the scores of the hearing children of the same age in the “sentence imitation” (t=−2/90, P

متن کاملSpeech Intelligibility of Cochlear-Implanted and Normal-Hearing Children
Introduction: Speech intelligibility, the ability to be understood verbally by listeners, is the gold standard for assessing the effectiveness of cochlear implantation. Thus, the goal of this study was to compare the speech intelligibility between normal-hearing and cochlear-implanted children using the Persian intelligibility test. Materials and Methods: Twenty-six cochlear-implanted childre...
متن کاملRelationships between Speech Perception and Speech Production in Normal Hearing and Hearing - Impaired Subjects
The purpose of this paper is to consider the factors that make deaf speech so unintelligible to listeners. Twenty years of research have generated a long list of aspects of deaf production that are characteristic of the group, which become increasingly deviant with standard measures of hearing loss, and which are correlated wi th overall intelligibility. However, while all of these aspects may ...
متن کاملA Comparison of Linguistic Skills between Persian Cochlear Implant and Normal Hearing Children

In this study it has been tried to determine the level of language skills in children with Cochlear Implants (CI) in comparison with Normal Hearing (NH) age-mates. Methods: Test...
متن کاملThe relation between speech recognition in noise and the speech-evoked brainstem response in normal-hearing and hearing-impaired individuals
Little is known about the way speech in noise is processed along the auditory pathway. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation between listening in noise using the R-Space system and the neurophysiologic response of the speech-evoked auditory brainstem when recorded in quiet and noise in adult participants with mild to moderate hearing loss and normal hearing.
