Comparison of Helioseal F microleakage with 37% phosphoric acid and self – etch primer (In - vitro) Dr. Z. Bahrololoomi* - Dr. M. Nyazmand** *- Assistant Professor of Pedodontics Dept. - Faculty of Dentistry – Shaheed Sadoughi Yazd University of Medical Sciences. **- Dentist. Background and Aim: Recently, the use of self – etch primers, due to their ease of manipulation, for fissure sealant therapy is recommended. The aim of this study was to compare the microleakage of Helioseal F using two methods. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, 36 extracted intact human premolar teeth were randomly divided into two groups (n = 18) and were sealed with two methods: 1 – Conventional etching method. 2 – Using Prompt – Lpop acidic primer. All specimens were thermocycled for 1000 cycles at 5C – 55 C, then the teeth were immersed in 2% fuschin solution for 24 hours, sectioned and analyzed by stereomicroscopy. Data were subjected to Mann – Whitney test. Results:There was no statistically significant difference in microleakage of sealants between two methods(P= 0.869). Conclusion: In case of poor patient cooperation along with proper isolation, the use of self – etch primers is recommended for fissure sealant therapy. Key words: Fissure sealant – Microleakage – Self – etch primer.

Introduction: This study evaluated microleakage of flowable and conventional composite in primary molar class II restorations using self-etch and total-etch bonding agents. Methods: Class II standard cavities were prepared on proximal surface of 48 primary molars. These cavities were restored using GrandioFlow and Grandio composites and Futurabond DC and Solobo...

This study was conducted to examine the shear bond strengths of orthodontic brackets to ground enamel with two self-etching adhesives (Beauty Ortho Bond and Transbond XT) and two phosphoric acid-etching adhesives (Kurasper F and Orthomite Superbond). After the bonded specimens were stored in water at 37 degreees C for 24 hours, they were subjected to thermal cycling (TC) at 0 and 5000 cycles. T...
متن کاملMicroleakage in Class V Cavities Restored with Sandwich Technique: Self-Etch versus Total-Etch Bonding Systems
Objective: Microleakage has always been a problem in restorative dentistry. To decrease microleakage, modern bonding systems, different application methods and sandwich technique have been recommended. The purpose of this study was to assess the microleakage in class V cavities restored with open sandwich technique using self-etch and total-etch bonding systems. Methods: In this in vitro st...
متن کاملEffects of a self-etching primer and 37% phosphoric acid etching on enamel: a scanning electron microscopic study.
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to compare the etching effects of a self-etching primer with 37% phosphoric acid on enamel by using a scanning electron microscope. Bond strength and the site of bond failure were also determined for brackets bonded using SEP and 37% phosphoric acid. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 60 maxillary premolar teeth were used for this study and they were divi...
متن کاملMicroleakage assessment of one- and two-step self-etch adhesive systems with the low shrinkage composites
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Different studies evaluating one-step self-etch (SE) adhesive systems show contradictory findings, so the aim of this study was to compare the microleakage of one-step SE adhesive systems and CLEARFIL SE BOND (that serves as the “gold-standard” SE adhesive) with low shrinkage composites. METHODS: In this in vitro study, Class V cavities with the occlusal margin in enamel and...
