چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: This study aimed to investigate CRP and platelet count changes in preterm neonates with Patent Ductus Arteriosus on the seventh day of birth compared to the third day. Methods: This longitudinal study was conducted on fifty neonates with PDA complications in Afzalipour hospital in 2017-2018. All neonates underwent repeated echocardiography before the closure of their arterial duct and 2 cc of blood sample was taken from each neonate and was sent to the laboratory for platelet and CRP count test. Result: The mean of platelet was 296.17±18.08 on day 7, and it was significantly different compared to day 3 (195.49 ± 10.49). The arterial ducts of 15 neonates out of 50 patients with PDA were closed on the seventh day. The mean of CRP was significantly different in neonates with PDA (35.70) compared to neonates with closed arterial ducts (2.32) on day 7. Conclusions: The results of this study revealed that PDA is associated with a low number of platelets and high level of CRP in preterm neonates.

متن کاملPatent ductus arteriosus in preterm neonates.
Failure of the ductus arteriosus to close within 48-96 hours of postnatal age results in a left to right shunt across the ductus and overloading of the pulmonary circulation. This is more likely to happen in premature neonates with respiratory distress syndrome. Deterioration in the respiratory status on day 3-4 in a ventilated neonate and unexplained metabolic acidosis may be the earliest indi...
متن کاملPerfusion index and its dynamic changes in preterm neonates with patent ductus arteriosus.
AIM The perfusion index (PI) and its dynamic change during respiration, and supressed the plethysmographic variability index (PVI), are calculated from pulse oximetry, and these indexes were recently proposed for continuous and noninvasive assessment of peripheral perfusion in neonates. We aimed to assess the effect of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) on PI and PVI, according to ductal Doppler fl...
متن کاملEfficacy and complications of oral ibuprofen and intravenous acetaminophen in closure of patent ductus arteriosus of preterm neonates
Background: Previous studies have considered patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) a common finding in premature infants, leading to complications such as intracranial hemorrhage, necrotizing enterocolitis and pulmonary dysplasia. The aim of this study was to assess and compare the efficacy of oral ibuprofen and intravenous acetaminophen in the closure of arterial duct in premature newborns. We also e...
متن کاملPatent ductus arteriosus in premature neonates.
Persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in premature infants. In infants born prior to 28 weeks of gestation, a haemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) can cause cardiovascular instability, exacerbate respiratory distress syndrome, prolong the need for assisted ventilation and increase the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, in...
متن کاملIntravenous Paracetamol and Patent Ductus Arteriosus Closure
Background: Standard medical treatments for patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure are, including indomethacin/ibuprofen and surgical ligation. Nowadays, a new strategy to close PDA is the use of paracetamol. The present study aimed to describe the use of intravenous (IV) paracetamol for PDA closure in neonates who present a contraindication to ibuprofen or ibuprofen failure with no possibility...
