Bone regeneration in dentistry using bioactive glass 49S :A review
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 49S bioactive glass nanoparticles made by sol-gel technique on bone regeneration in dentistry. These glass are especially used as bone repair materials because of their properties such as biodegradability and bioactivity, so they seem to be successful in orthopedic and dental surgery. Material and Methods: Acoording to this review, articles were searched using the keywords in Science direct, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Silivica databases between year 2006-2018, and 35 most related articles were choose. Results: According to studies, bioactive glass can perform specific biological activities after implantation. Due to the amount of ions released by the dissolution of these nano materials, they can be used for bone repair and dental problems. Conclusions: The bioactive glass 49S is preferred over other materials because of its special propertie Such as having nano-sized particles, the ability to bind to the soft tissue, ions release that influences bone growth and proliferation and differentiation of bone marrow cells. It is therefore suitable alternative to the orthopedic and dental bone grafts.

Bone defect regeneration with bioactive glass implantation in rats.
The main goal of this study was to histologically evaluate the healing of surgically created defects on the tibiae of adult male rats after implantation of two types of bioactive glass. Sixteen adult Wistar rats (body weight of 300g) were divided into two groups: PerioGlas (PG) (n=8) and BioGran (BG) (n=8). Unicortical bone defects with 3-mm diameter were performed in both tibiae of the animals...

The edentulism of the jaws and the periodontal disease represent conditions that frequently leads to disruption of the alveolar bone. The loss of the tooth and of its bone of support lead to the creation of crestal defects or situation of maxillary atrophy. The restoration of a functional condition involves the use of endosseous implants who require adequate bone volume, to deal with the mastic...

Beside auto- and allogeneic bone chips used for filling bone lesions or to enhance of bone regeneration, various types of ceramics, natural and synthetized bone mineral hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate, as well as numerous polymers and co-polymers of alfa-hydroxy acids are widely used. These materials in a pure form demonstrate good osteoconductivity, but very rarely are osteoinductive. ...
متن کاملHigh strength bioactive glass-ceramic scaffolds for bone regeneration.
This research work is focused on the preparation of macroporous glass-ceramic scaffolds with high mechanical strength, equivalent with cancellous bone. The scaffolds were prepared using an open-cells polyurethane sponge as a template and glass powders belonging to the system SiO(2)-P(2)O(5)-CaO-MgO-Na(2)O-K(2)O. The glass, named as CEL2, was synthesized by a conventional melting-quenching route...
متن کاملFunctionalized mesoporous bioactive glass scaffolds for enhanced bone tissue regeneration
Mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG), which possesses excellent bioactivity, biocompatibility and osteoconductivity, has played an important role in bone tissue regeneration. However, it is difficult to prepare MBG scaffolds with high compressive strength for applications in bone regeneration; this difficulty has greatly hindered its development and use. To solve this problem, a simple powder proce...
متن کاملGuided bone regeneration: A literature review
Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is a reconstructive procedure of alveolar ridge using membranes. This procedure is indicated when there is no sufficient bone for implantation, or in the case of optimal implant installation for esthetic or functional needs. GBR can be performed before implant placement, when there is not enough bone for initial stability of implants and less predictable outcomes ...
