Biological and Immunological Reactions in Parasitic Diseases
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Processed antigen reacts selectively with lymphocytes bearing .appropriate surface immunoglobulin molecules resulting in the clonal proliferation of these cells, producing circulating immunoglobulin (humoral immunity) or non-circulating immunoglobulins (cellular immunity). High levels of circulating immunoglobulins (lgM & lgG) occur in protozoa and helminths infections. Reaginic antibodies attach to mast cells and basophils in the presence of specific antigen mediate mast cell/basophil deranulation which results in the release of vaso-active amines. The process is initiated when antigen becomes attached to the combining site of the cells band lgE, influencing the activity of a cell membrane-associated enzyme system. REFERENCES

Respiratory diseases among pig farmers in relation to immunological reactions
This PhD dissertation is a summarized dissertation and includes four original scientific papers. The studies were conducted during my employment at Institute of medical microbiology, University of Aarhus, in the years 1985-1990. The writing proceeded in 20052007. The aim of the study was to describe the respiratory health status and the relation to pig farm exposure among pig farmers in Denmark...
متن کاملAllergic diseases in the elderly: biological characteristics and main immunological and non-immunological mechanisms
Life expectancy and the number of elderly people are progressively increasing around the world. Together with other pathologies, allergic diseases also show an increasing incidence in geriatric age. This is partly due to the growing emphasis on a more accurate and careful diagnosis of the molecular mechanisms that do not allow to ignore the real pathogenesis of many symptoms until now unknown, ...
متن کاملLipoids and Immunological Reactions
It has been demonstrated that the removal of lipoids from Type I antipneumococcus horse serum causes a loss of the visible phenomena of type specific agglutination and precipitation, and in the case of rabbit serum a marked reduction in these properties. Initial activity of the type specific antibody can be restored to extracted immune horse serum by the addition of lecithin, and to rabbit seru...
متن کاملLipids and Immunological Reactions
1. Specific precipitates resulting from the interaction of the homologous capsular polysaccharide and Type I antipneumococcus horse and rabbit sera have been analyzed by gasometric micro methods for total nitrogen, lipid nitrogen, and lipid carbon. 2. Lipid may, under certain conditions, form as much as 51 per cent or as little as 4 per cent by weight of specific precipitates. 3. The total lipi...
متن کاملImmunological Basis of Neurological Diseases
Clinical neurology has been traditionally considered as an academic speciality in which the specialist regurgitates his/her knowledge of neurology without being able to do much for the patient. This attitude is no longer acceptable. Surge of information and discoveries in neurosciences within the last two decades translated into therapeutic interventions which is literally life saving in some o...

AB S T RAC T Experiments were designed to compare the distribution of free and antibody-bound unlabeled insulin to the distribution of free and antibody-bound insulin-125I. The insulin antibody was incorporated in a specific immune precipitate similar to the one used by Hales and Randle for the radioimmune assay of insulin. Insulin which was not bound by the specific immune precipitate was meas...
